It’s honestly refreshing to see a bigger family living in something other than a new McMansion. Not everyone can afford to live like kings and queens, but your modest older home is kept clean and orderly and spruced up with your artistic flair. It’s inspiring for those of us with smaller spaces.

Most people can't. It drives me crazy when rich people with 1 kid or no kid live on a mansion with tons of rooms lol. Like honesty aside from being a status symbol, why do you need a house that big. Most of america lives paycheck to paycheck and half below poverty, I don't think as many people as we are shown live in giant houses

Please don't take this the wrong way, but it's lovely to see a modest and realistic home. Here in the UK, many of us live in small, terraced houses which date from the late 19th century. We don't have laundry rooms, pantries, basements or garages. I watch some of these minimalist videos and marvel at just how tidy they are, only to discover that possessions are distributed over countless rooms. The real skill is maintaining a neat home when you have zero storage space.

Thank you! Quite a few people have commented that it's nice to see a normal/older home, which I'm glad to hear. ❤️
@lindavies99483 жыл бұрын
supergran1000 Yes we are also in the UK in a late C19th terraced house so it is very different from the spacious modern houses shown in a lot of videos. Whenever I see the basement of an American minimalist home I do tend to think (no doubt wrongly in reality!!) "Well if I had a huge basement like that I would have far less of a storage problem!" It would be good to see what UK minimalists have done with a terraced house. We are just now (after 25 years!) realising we could have made better use of the understairs cupboard - thinking of putting three doors to access it instead of the current one door to a dark cave-like scary stash!
@supergran10003 жыл бұрын
@@lindavies9948 Lol! I love all those North American videos, but the houses are like mansions compared to British homes. I've been grateful for the good ideas, though. At the age of 65, I think I've nearly cracked it! Our understairs space is all open. A dumping space for years, we've finally got it under control just as we're moving out. Our new house is even smaller - but newer. Greetings from Brighton.

New subscriber here, I have never watched one of your videos before but I love how real your home is, that is not for show and trendy, just cosy and organised. I live in England and here the vast majority of homes do not have closets, we're lucky if we have a linen closet somewhere, mine is in the tiny bathroom. Although most people would never claim to be minimalists we do live more like you seem to rather than the North American homes with five bedrooms and hoarding mentality. I live in a small one bed flat now my kids have left home and I am currently decluttering as much as possible to make my day to day life easier due to health problems making keeping my home clean and tidy difficult- hence my watching videos like yours currently. I look forward to going through your older videos to get some inspiration for my declutter. x

I think when my daughter graduates from high school we might downsize back to a smaller place. In the meantime I’m gonna get rid of everything we don’t need. Today I helped my daughter decluttering her room and since there is no carpet in it we could actually hear an echo when it was nice and clean. 😆 Thanks so much for all your helpful tips and your home is so nice and cozy. 🧡

Wow - 1882, had no idea your house was that old, love it. You mentioned in other videos it was an older home, but don't remember a date. I have a craftsman style, 1945, not very large. I do have hard wood floors, window seat, walk in pantry, comes with quirks, but that's part of an older home & why I love them. I've been curious since discovering your channel, binge watching ALL the videos to catch up to date, how your house was laid out. We never got to see any of the other rooms, mostly the kitchen. Love that you have the same piano you grew up with, it's beautiful, how special to have it for your kids as well. I like the chair rail ledge around the bathroom, hope it finds it's way into your new bathroom. I feel this video was made just for me, since I asked for a home tour and inquired about the string of birds. I appreciate the tour, it's a nice home, it's sooooooo clean & organized. Look forward to the basement one to come. Thank you very much.

Thank you for the home tour. I'm from a large family, shared bedrooms with siblings, not a lot of storage & needed to be creative, and usually had used furniture that was nice but could handle all the kids. My mom was the type of person that also wanted to have our home ready for company but it was a lived-in home, so never like a museum. I really like the art storage frames! Mom would display our art too. A friend told me about office chair casters made like the skateboard wheels (from Amazon) & how well they work. Perhaps changing the casters on your office chair may be an option? Thanks to you & the family for sharing.

Thank you for inviting us into your home. It can be very challenging with an older house, nothing is straight or square, doors are all different sizes etc. Bless Naomi, maybe a bucket sized hole, with a lid can be cut next to Naomi's bed (round or square) and her beloved dog can be pulled up in a bucket to be with her when she needs him. Hope that makes sense. Just an idea. Your home is so neat and tidy, one day when I'm big....🤭

The sentimental part. Childrens school,art work,some toys.I will keep some but I know I will have to pare down. I just decluttered my snowman collection I was done with for years.It was more the idea that keeping it was holding on to the past.The days of turmoil on the farm ,marital stuff,chaos days.Hard to let go. Letting go of part of my connection to home.The farm will always be home.Sorry, thats a sad tale for another time.One thought lead to another.
