That little interaction with the sheep gave me a flashback to being 16 & listening to Motorbike by Sheep On Drugs 😂 Looks beautiful there! Lovely scenery 😍

I cross the Woodrow Wilson Bridge - and everytime I do, I remember crossing it in the pandemic - NO ONE ELSE on one of the most traveled bridges in DC.

What a beautiful canal, a bit of a kept secret. It just needs some trimming back. Enjoyed watching your cruise guys. Thx 🙏🩷
@MinimalListАй бұрын
Yeah, It's a little out of the way as you have to go on the Tidal Trent but definitely worth the effort.

I think a lot of us where changed forever by lockdown, we spent it watching you potter up and down between Retford and Charlies, our old boat Kashmir was on the drive so we could see but not use her, and the planning when you where short of diesel and where we could bring it. So thanks for giving us an outside interest, and hey I just saw our boat..

Yes, very strange times.

I did the Chesterfield in the 70's, you could only reach Worksop at that time,I have seen the videos of the restored canal with other Vloggers,I don't know how you can leave there without doing the full restoration,I so remember staring at the derelict Turnerwood locks 50 years ago when we used to travel out there by car and wishing they were restored.
@MinimalListАй бұрын
We went to the entrance of the tunnel four years ago and then walked over to the other side. I really hope it gets restored all the way to chesterfield

You know what I miss…Sundays and bank holidays when nothing was open. When all families could have a day together. I think it’s outrageous that people (mostly in low paid occupations) have to work because the rest of us want to visit places on our ‘holiday’ day. What happened to just going for a family picnic etc?
@MinimalListАй бұрын
Yes, I remember the days when nothing opened on a Sunday too.

I agree. They were special days😀

Oof! Those Retford feelings... I'm glad I don't live on a boat now! XD But I've got a whole lot of practical reasons to not live on a boat anyway. "We can just leave the boat," says Michael, and I get this mental picture of you two just living out of backpacks and a tent, for years on end, all over Eurasia! ;) I didn't realise Tiller Talk was on your other channel. I caught one, which must have been one of KZbin's suggestions. Going to sub now. BTW, your end cards never appeared.
@MinimalListАй бұрын
Hmm, I possible forgot to add the end cards, I'll check. thanks. I could live out of a backpack but definitely bot in a tent.
@eekee6034Ай бұрын
@@MinimalList I'm the opposite. I'm comfortable in a tent given a good warm sleeping bag and a modern sleeping mat, but my shoulders don't like having a backpack hung from them. Then again, I probably shouldn't base my opinion of tents on one experience when I was 16, given that I'm 50 now. :)

I do wonder how many miles Jo and George have walked on towpaths. During lockdown we had a rota for walking out dog never sure who was watching. Still enjoy your videos.
@MinimalListАй бұрын
I think Michael is giving me a run for my money these days. He walks far more than me. It's so weird thinking back to lockdown isn't it
@terenceseymour-tf8rptassie725Ай бұрын
How many miles of navigable waterways have you cruised ? I know that is not going to answer the question as you and George did not walk all of it .
@craigy_babyАй бұрын
I think the church that you saw from the canal was at Hayton, not Sturton-le Steeple.

You should be thankful for the lockdown as many lives were saved 😢
@MinimalListАй бұрын
We're glad social distancing / lockdown happened. We wish our government had considered people who had non-traditional housing. We wish all government had done lots of things differently as many more lives could have been saved.

There's a certain street in my town where I used to live, for 25 years but I hate it now because of lockdowns. I moved in 2022. It's a shame because it's a quiet street, it has a tram stop with a wide platform and a very accessible entrance to a mall which is a cut through to the high street, all level or with gentle slopes. I use a mobility scooter and I was shielding but when things eased up I only went to the supermarket so now I can't stand that corner of the town I've lived in all my life. I only moved across the other side of the town centre to an even quieter corner and it's lovely but I miss the time before covid in that street near the market. It's never the same is it.
