The way he kept falling and his inability to understand the danger is terrifying. I get you are try so hard to understand his route but you both could have been hurt so badly. This was way too much!

Yes, good idea, just might need to be in something like pants as sense are heightened and things that are different like the weight of an airtag might cause him to rifle through and pull it out in a similar way he did with his bracelets.

Have you looked into ABA therapy for kids with elopement? My niece did the same thing and once she did the therapy and they taught her to not run away. It was a life saver for the whole family.

As an autism MomA and prior therapist with special needs I find the dog is the best when it comes to runners they are trained to stop them.they pair with your child and usually a larger breed because of runners but are great!!!

It's also so amazing how Grayson seemed to not looked exhausted after all of that. Tara, invest in a Drone that way somebody can be looking around while everyone else is looking for him. Have some walkie talkies to be to communicate with each other. Talk with neighbors to set up a watch and get together to look for Grayson have a plan. I hope that helps. 🤗🌻

Maybe a play area in the backyard that includes the same kind of enrichment as the hike, I know you take them to parks but thats what he is looking for and needs that activity every day and if you are busy or not feeling well maybe a helpful person can take him. I’m new to your channel, but I’m an autism mom too. My daughter had a lot of safety/eloping issues. She started ABA therapy last October and it has helped tremendously. I know it’s not for everyone, but in didn’t know if y’all had ever tried. Hope you find some way for him to learn safety 🙏🏻❤️

I was so scared when I was seeing your video following Grayson, but you were determined to see what your child was doing. Be careful, maybe it will be a good idea to place motion alarms that makes a sound when one of your kids try to get out of your home. And. Be wary of rattle snakes in those hills, especially now when it’s hot. I spied a gopher hole which means there are creatures around that eat gophers 🐍. We live in So Cal too, next to a canyon. Had a baby rattler in our yard not too long ago.

I have a autism grandson, they so lovable and adorable, he just wants to be outside, and they get used to their walks, and malls, they also don't know of getting hurt, the only time when you can really relax is when they sleeps ,try to get him some kiddy movie's, please don't walk that route again it's steep and dangerous, and they don't forget their routine, don't worry you a good mama ❤
