On May 17th. 2024 I bought a 2024 Honda Monkey 125 it is now Sept. 10th. and I officially hit 5,000 miles on my Mini Moto on the way home from work last night. I seem to be getting 140mpg on my Monkey. I'm around 215lbs. and i typically carry around 25lbs. of luggage Wherever I Go. I started Riding two wheels back in 1980 on a 49cc Puch Maxi Sport Moped and when I turned 18 I got my first Motorcycle and I've had a lot of good times Riding over the years. I love my Papio SS that i purchased in January. Over 3k on the clock now. This and the Surron light bee certainly changed my mind on chinese bikes

The Honda Grom would be a better comparison. The price would be about the same and it would also have a fifth gear. I can easily get 160 MPG with Grom. Also Honda's bulletproof reliability

The new Monkey has a 5 speed. I do love the seat on that Monkey though. That thing is like a couch. It is hard to justify the extra $750 for the Monkey though. If I were buying one I would probably save the money and get the Grom.

I've got both the monkey and the grom with the 5-speed transmissions. Not only is the grom cheaper, but it has a better display and is a little faster. Also you can carry a passenger. If you're riding on pavement, the grom is the way to go.

@@wstoneburgh I believe the same thing, but I do prefer the looks of the Monkey. I also prefer the monoshock on the Grom over the dual shocks on the Monkey.

I agree, that way the weights and riding positions are similar. They probably should have done the regular papio and not the SS and the grom. The cheapest newcomer and the veteran premium option.

Guys, these videos are really neat. I enjoy the heck out of these in the morning, with my coffee. I’d love to ride these minimotos, but I’m a big guy. I’d look like a golf ball on a playing card. Every time, though, I keep waiting for someone to bring out the dad joke about “…touching your Monkey…”

Had a 1999 Kawasaki KLR 250 that got around 70-75 MPG and I thought that was pretty cool. But all the motorbikes I have had and or ridden, that was the only one I ever checked the MPG on. lol I assume few people riding motorbikes raise eye brows about the MPG. It is what it is. You will kill most 4 wheel vehicles in MPG, even if you cannot kill them in range.

You should start and finish by filling at the same pump. Use a level and stand the bike up and use a wooden ruler so you can get the exact amount same on each bike. Switch riders at exactly half the trip. This should give you more reliable results.

I think it'd be nice to test the fuel economy of a slightly larger displacement bike or even a scooteragainst the mini motos My Navi gets only about 70 miles per gallon at best when I'm maxed out, would be interested to see if a slightly larger displacement bike just keeping up with the smaller one does

@@MrWhitelightning73 That's about what my navi gets going at full speed... 50. My real question is at what point does that stop working out, 500, 600? Clearly at some point you're going to start using more gas going say 60 miles an hour

@@matt45540 I’ve had it to 87 mph but usually I stick to the speed limit. It’s got over 1,300 miles and averages 71mpg Cheap transportation. I spend around $8.00 every two weeks on gas 😊

I tend to get mid to high 60s commuting on my ninja 300. Im about 160lbs and have a little tailbag on it. Im not hypermiling it but im not open throttle everywhere either.

My XR150 does 105mpg. Is it as cool as these bikes? Sure not. But lot cheaper and more capable.
