I live in the states. I do not have a car. I’m not superbly strong, and I am a backpack DJ. I like to own the best possible DJ system for small parties which I can fold out of a backpack. After months of consideration, I ordered a 2x minirig 3 + 1x minirig Sub 3 combo from the manufacturer. I have had them a couple of years, seldomn used because I’ve been focused on my day job, but at parties, it is not just me who likes them. Any test of a speaker with other people is jointly a test of the speaker and your music selecting skills, but I’m happy to say that the minirig combo has received universally positive feedback, with quite a few people’s minds blown at what it achieves. I think a stereo pair of minirigs is appropriate (with at least 6 feet of audio cable between them) for small rooms, particularly if they’re going to be set up near a wall. You want the subwoofer if you have space and carrying capacity, and if you’re outside or in the middle of a big space. If you have the subwoofer along in a small space, and you lack long enough audio cables to bridge directly between the minirigs, use the subwoofer as a passive cord extender. Turn off the subwoofer unit after wiring up the whole system with the subwoofer in the middle. Your audio will still pass from one minirig to another through it, and you won’t overwhelm your listeners (or yourself) with low frequencies. I’m torn about whether I want minirigs to catch on here in the states. It would lessen my competitive advantage, but I expect technology to erode that with time anyway. It would also increase the chances I could encounter a party host or other goer who supplies additional minirigs while I’m DJing, which would be a treat. :)

Great content @digitaldjtips I have been going through lots of your videos because I just got an FLX4 and have issues with latency as you describe with a JBL speaker. I would love your opinion on what you would buy as a starting aspiring DJ without a dedicated space - I'm just setting up in the kitchen. These look ideal but I wonder if they are perhaps not that much easier to get out and setup than something like pioneer DM40 or MAudio BX4 which you have also reviewed. You mention that attaching the subwoofer is just an extra faff and that's making me think that plugging one cable into the wall might be worth it if they sound better than the minirigs without a sub? Many thanks for all the content, Merry Christmas!

@sxxychocolate623310 ай бұрын
As someone who own MR3 2.1 set up, ideally you'd want the left , right and the sub...the added depth and omph make all the difference. While two minirigs sound great they can be a bit treble heavy, which certainly needs toning down via EQ'ing. The addition of the sub gives you that sheer depth and rumble that you simply don't get with two standard minirig speakers. While the set up amd charging of multiple speakers can be a faff, the small footprint and modularity of such a set is at this moment, unmatched. By the way, even a 1.1 set up sounds great l, you just lose that true stereo sound....
@bnewson3310 ай бұрын

If they made this into a protable speaker like Sony or JBL I would buy it 100%, regardless of price, at least give us options. Carrying around 2 speakers and sub woofer with the most trash connections is just not good for 99% of people. It is the reason I still own 2 JBL Xtreme 3s. The form factor, delivers great bass, unlike the Xtreme 4, and they pair easily sounding great in stereo. This would win but they refuse to make a true portable. I bought both for sub $200 new through eBay fire sales. People shit on JBL but form factor matters to a lot of people. I would never purchased the Xtreme 3 for retail $350 but at the price I got them they were a steal. I would gladly purchase the 2 Minirig plus sub tube or whatever they call it for 500-600 plus, but they refuse to give it to us for some reason.

I am looking for something that offers relative portability, great sound and ability to DJ with, for small parties (up to 20-30 people type thing) indoor and outdoors (e.g. beach/forest etc.) - would you say these would fit the bill and if so for how many people roughly do you reckon a 2.1 setup with these could cater for (and same Q for a 4.2 set up), to give sound that allows for a proper party (i.e. loud + thumpy bass) ?! I think they've pushed that about as far as it can go for a speaker of this size

Too expensive. They don't even have specifications and features on their site! Wth is wrong with this company.

Minirig 3 was better. Better app, better sound, better battery. I have minirig 3 and 4

Perhaps, but honestly Minirigs are really awesome mini BT speakers. I would not DJ with them, but ace paired to your phone.

Toys? SUAT would beg to differ. Well, he wouldn't beg. He's too busy having fun with these bad boys.

These speakers are the pro gear mini speakers actually designed by djs, there far from toys for what they do, can highly recommend for home where full size monitors are not a option or small beach parties
