man oh man! I really appreciate your video - Tech support was not at all supportive for me. I'm taking a stab in the dark that its the receiver and I had to order one - they wouldn't give me anything, not even advice.!!!! I have no idea what to do when I can finally get to this project but your video is surely helpful. Thank YOU!

Thanks for the video. Mine died after 2.5 years of operation. I knew it was in the motor assembly but your tutorial helped. The issue I have is that my light is mounted on my 20 foot living room ceiling. So sad that I will have to take the whole thing down. (Update) I removed the pin and set screws and lifted the casing without dismounting the whole unit. I was able to replace the controller. By the way, I had the Windmolen so it was a little different. (Thanks again for the video). 😀

I have 2 "wet rated" outdoor minka aire slipstream fans. I have replaced this controller 3 times in one fan and twice in the other. They are 60' fans. Your process is spot on and i laughed all the way through it. However, i can now do it like a nascar pit crew and since i have fewer blades i can take the whole SOB down with the blades on it, climb down the ladder and put it on the table. IT SUCKS. I hate these fans and the controllers are about $75.00 each now. The first couple were under warranty. Never, never again Minka. I think my first one at least came with instructions! What do you expect for $600.00? GRRRRRRRR. Great how to video.

Minka...had 3 seperate replacement fans sent over 2 years. 4 seperate receivers. All died. Extremely poor quality control and obviously faulty design. Really good looking and effective when working. Do not buy unless you enjoy frustration.

Mine acts up every now and then, when it does I have to spin it with a broom handle to get it going

My Minka fan did exactly the same thing … requiring the same part, a couple weeks after installation. I really enjoyed hearing the frustration - exactly how I feel. POS fan. The company sends defective parts.

Mine has been running like a champ after replacing the receiver, it still sucks that quality control of pretty much everything you buy is nonexistent anymore.

@michelledeen822 the replacement was the same part number, I think it was just fluke BUT a couple times this summer the fan wouldn’t start until I reversed it to the winter position. Overall it’s a great fan 👍👍👍

@@116falconer Thank you for your help. I'm just nervous to invest money for the fan (not cheap!) AND labor only to have it fail again, especially after warranty expires. Seems this problem has happened to too many people and company should be responsible for quality control. I'l risk it because I love the design and function when is actually works.

@michelledeen822 you’re welcome 👍 it really is a nice fan for the money and the customer support is top notch. I originally was looking at a windmill fan that is 100% U.S. made but they were about $2500, if I had the money I definitely would’ve went that route.

So I bought MINKA-AIRE F905L-DK Artemis XL5 I’ll install and wire this week. I have a silly question. I removed my old fan I have 3 wires (Black,white,red) my new fan has only 2 wires black and white “not including the ground wire I got that part. So my question is what am I going to do with the extra red wire coming from my house? Also 1 more question. I have a remote control and is my receiver in the fan or do I need to by new receiver and wire them up? Sorry for the silly questions.

I guess all the answers are on your video but still what you want me to do with my red wire:) I guess my old fan one switch for fan other one was for the light.

Pretty sure you just gotta drop the canopy which is above the fan.
