Don't mind all these people who are NOW talking great abut Tessa Johnson, as if they were rooting for her team to win. I assure you that they were not rooting for her to win! I work in the twin Cities and ALL my co-workers were openly rooting for Iowa to win and I was the lone wolf rooting for SC but kept it to myself, and didn't join their loud braggadocios conversations about how Caitlin Clark will teach SC a lesson like "she did last year". Monday morning after the game: You would have thought that each of my co-workers lost a dear family member! The quietness, depressed atmosphere and the nasty looks I was getting was off- the-charts. Of course they knew I was rooting for SC even though I was not vocal about it because they know that I lived in SC and also visits SC, NC and Georgia often to see relatives. I was so happy to see them stewing in their hate on Monday morning. I went about my business as if I didn't know what happened on Sunday afternoon. I even acted like I was not following the tournament. These are the same co-workers who wanted me to join their conversations about policing when the australian white woman was killed by the Somali cop who got 12 years in prison, but they kept mum and acted as if they didn't live in Minnesota, or didn't watch the news when philando castille, george floyd and a few other young black men were murdered in cold blood. How very convenient for them to pick and choose when cops should be held accountable! Tessa Johnson, if you are reading this, the whole of Minnesota was NOT rooting for your team to win! More than 99.9999999% of the inhabitants of this state were rooting for IOWA to win and they were so confident that IOWA will win. I cherished their disappointment on Monday morning! And for anyone who cares, you don't have to guess: Yes, I'm black and unapologetically so!

This was a great read. I live in the Twin cities also and I can just imagine everything you said in this post. It probably took a whole lot for you to not laugh in their faces. Probably would've got lynched! I'm proud of Tessa and SC. They didn't win just a championship in dramatic fashion but they spared us all a never-ending exalting of Iowa and Caitlin Clark ✊🏿

The ONLY REASON South Carolina is a powerhouse is because they play as a TEAM and doesn't place ALL their eggs in "one" overrated pressure prone basket.

Sure is nice when you can go to the recuit store and put starters elsewhere on low minute counts for a bench. SC is what's wrong with sports. Why pro sports have salary caps keeping talent everywhere.

@KH-vv6kr The disparity during the NC was on the bench. Iowa had multiple players go 35+ minutes all tournament and SC spread theirs around. After the 1st quarter flurry, Iowa couldn't handle fresh legs against them. The starting 5 for Iowa were better than SC's. Stockpiling depth keeps 90+% of teams from challenging superbench programs. It's the recruiting not great coaching schemes that accumulate hardware.

@shereeross4049 Far from. There is coaching, and there is math. The more math these programs accumulate, the less critical any game plan is. Out talent not out coach/play an opponent. It's why they don't get the press love they want. There becomes nothing impressive about them winning, so people don't tune in to watch a roster bully in action.
