Dont disrespect Sunisa's father John Lee like that. Her Lao father was never there for her since she was an infant. He doesnt even exist in her life. John Lee stepped up, with a big open heart. Sunisa sees John as her only father and also took his surname. She doesnt know anything about Lao culture. You cannot put a label on her if she doesnt want it. Sunisa grew up culturally Hmong, eating Hmong food. She speaks and understands the Hmong language, she wears Hmong clothing, attends Hmong events and proudly represent her Hmong community. The Lao have never done anything for her. Last year, Sunisa's parents traveled to Laos for vacation, no one welcomed them with open arms. No one even invited them to dinner or acknowledged their visitation. When we fundraised for her Gymnastics, it was all Hmong Americans who donated money. Thousands and thousands of dollars. She has never claimed to be a Lao. So get out of here with that disrespect. Please stop using the word "meo" to label my Hmong people, that is the equivalent of saying the N word. I'm not surprised though, Laos have always viewed Hmong as a second class citizen. Some things just never change I guess.
