I've been waiting for something like this to come along. Although i never really latched on to this band at the time, when they split, a mate of mine turned me on to Fugazi. Magnificent straight-edge hard-core with dub bass lines, and a twin guitar attack, they have to be one of finest live acts i've ever seen. If you intend on doing this whole album, that's just fine. If not, give Fugazi's blistering 'In On The Killtaker' a try. Life affirming to the max!

That was always the feeling with these amazing handcore punk songs, so short, so catchy and energetic but at the same time, you're always left with a feeling of ''I kinda want another minute of that please'' that cannot be quenched by the next song which will also leave you with that same feeling. But, fuck me ! Cause I love this type of music so damn much, my first musical fixation.

i found you through your wire pink flag reaction. that’s my favorite punk album of all time and i subbed about halfway into that video lol. i love to see you giving minor threat a try but i totally understand why you felt these songs didn’t stick with you much. if you’re willing to try a full release from them, i can’t recommend their album out of step enough. still maintains their rough hardcore sound while showing massive growth in their songwriting. most songs are 2 min and a couple are 3+. definitely worth a try if you’re ever feeling up to it!

Minor Threat were one of the originators of Hardcore Punk but Ian MacKaye's crowning achievement is obviously his post-hardcore band Fugazi. They were a totally different beast, much more musical and slower with two singers and superb interplay between all the instruments. I highly recommend reacting to them JP. While all their albums are great I suggest you start from the beginning with "13 Songs"

I hadn't heard of Minor Threat until I saw them here six days ago. Yesterday I bought a CD player from a heart foundation charidee shop. The one I had chosen wouldn't play my choice of 2 Travis cds and a BB king live cd so consequently I had to pay an extra £6 for another machine. This made me late for my taxi ride so I had to rush out of the store rather frustrated that the box full of give a donation CDs had to be given the elbow/cold shoulder. Today I found myself in the same charity shop - completely against the odds it has to be stated - as I am s s s s h h on me h o l s.... Up North... And hadn't planned on returning there. So, u may ask:what was in the donation box full of CDs?! That's right Thom Yorke eraser 2 prince symbol daily mail compilations The Fall of Troy - doppleganger Time Bandits daily mail dvd A daily mail 20sexiest hits compilation - rather eclectic tbh and I quote _Friday I'm in love?! And to my amusement First Demo Tape CD by MINOR THREAT RELEASED ON DISCORD RECORDS. It's an earlier version of wot u played. Track 7 is called Guilty of Being W***e. I think they could be just as #seminal as the other punk bands u mentioned. They played with they're critical thinking skills but neglected the poise, sophistication refinement and dexterity of The Muso ponytailed Phenomenon.. Still, they rock. Great To be able to give a donation. The music was reckless and the CD player rather tinny, yet could the word " integrity " be my final say on the matter ? Doh no Another daily mail CD by UB40 was also purchased. Interestingly from 2008 without any of their early hits. The earth dies screaming, Justin... X

I had a hardcore phase at the age of 13. Minor Threat is the only band I still love and regularly go back to. Their first ep is all straight on hardcore. Their later releases have more diverse song structures. The entirety of their output is 46 minutes long. Check out In My Eyes.

I like the structure of these songs, wish there were more to each of them. I'd like to suggest, again, X's eponymous debut album. It's punk of an entirely different nature, more Charles Bukowski than Johnny Rotten; plus you get Ray Manzarek on two tracks! Thanks for your honest reaction as always!

These banging, relentlessly charging ahead, angry, songs. It is best to consume one complete album side at a time. Then down a shot and bottle of beer, bash the empty bottle over your head, go back to finish side 2, and repeat till you are comatose!!! Violent aggressive tendencies are promptly erased! Peace & Love.

This is punk taken to its logical conclusion. I like it a lot, but really it is of it's place (DC) and time (early 80s). There is a lot better punk out there... Stranglers and Crass for example! This is hardcore punk - if you wanna see hardcore punk at its best you need Black Flag and Bad Brains - their take on hardcore punk is much less obvious and straightforward, much more impressive and varied.

@@Owlstretchingtime78 I liked some UK punk bands from the late 70s, but I lost interest for the genre when the whole Oi!/hardcore punk scene came along so it goes without saying that Fugazi completely passed me by! I found interest in Hüsker Dü's double album Warehouse: Songs and Stories when it came out, but that's it. Anyway, I was more interested in post-punk and new wave in the early 80s.
