Minthara really is one of the better characters. She might be comically evil sometimes but the tropes end there, she's incredibly well written and acted. It's wonderful that we got such a well done evil aligned character counter to all the good aligned ones

She isn't commocally evil, though. Thats one of the points shes making and is made multiple times throughout the game there is no true good vs evil, black vs white. Everything and everyone is nuanced and have reasons for doing what they did. Remember this is Remember it well. Both sides slaughter and kill, the one looked at as a savior and the as the good side is only the one that wins, the victor writes the story and writes history.

To me minthara reads as an interesting example for nature versus nurture. In scenes like this you can see how intrinsically insightful and emotionally intelligent she truly is and how buried and distorted these qualities are the rest of the time because of her cruel upbringing. It’s so sad because this happens all too often in reality especially in conservative areas. People that if their surroundings would have been different could have grown into their true selves without terrible things like racism, sexism, queerphobia,… disrupting their lives so much that they can’t help but internalise these wrong concepts.

I knew Laezel was cool with me being a vamp, so I told her...and apparently missed some cool scenes 😢 I'm thinking I should have kept my fangs to myself until after getting to the Blighted Village. As soon as I told Laezel I was a vamp, I didn't get any more narrator lines saying I was hungry, etc. Well poop. I thought being honest was a good thing (and I guess it was since nobody got hurt) but instead I missed Origin content.

I replayed BG3 for the Romance with Minthara (well, besides wanting here as a Character) And in a positive way i'm disappointed. I experienced and perceived Minthara little by little more of a big sister. A Sister, who lives in a vastlys total other world than me, with strange oppinions and worldviews. But she always has something thoughtful to say about my and our situation. I almost never sharing her views, but keep supporting her in a sense, that doesnt strip me of my core. And so, the overall feeling in the end was honest respect. Larian did an amazing job with her and im glad for the tour!
