I'm glad they cut this. I dont think it's out of character for Halsin, he can make some prejudiced comments early on if you play a Lolth drow and given the implication that he's repressing serious trauma, him having an outburst here and getting wrapped up in his emotions as a ptsd response would make sense. My issue is that he is then entirely fine with the drow twins, eager even. Mixed with the baser instincts comment here, it implies that he's fine if they're the ones who are sexual objects this time. He wont see Minthara as a person who can be redeemed like Khaga, but he's totally fine is using the twins for his baser instincts. Which would kind of interesting if not for the fact we dont unpack it further. I think if Minthara is in the group you should get the ability to gently call him out for the hypocrisy and he can have time to dwell on it. Maybe have a scene or banter where he does tell Minthara he's trying to do better. Maybe not to the point where he'd be totally okay with her but to at least acknowledge himself that he's wrong here. Halsin: I've given it some thought Minthara. In the past I have chosen forgiveness when someone did the unforgivable, because I know we can all be more than our baser instincts. I should have extended that courtesy to you. Minthara: I am glad we can put this behind us. You speak of the druid woman yes? I wish they had kept this, given you a check to keep them both, explored Halsin's abuse at the hands of drow, and given him a quest to resolve it while he and Minthara slowly grow to mutually respect one another.

My first character worked her butt off trying to help out Halsin, only for it to be impossible in her playthrough to resolve the Shadow Curse issue. He then proceeds to stay behind as her party traveled onwards to Baldur's Gate without him, despite all the help he promised to give. Halsin's all talk, and doesn't back you up when you need it the most. Minthara has your back more than him, and that is saying something.

Whats funny is in my playthrough, Halsin doesn’t leave after I recruited Minthara before Ketheric kills her. She took over Halsins tent, and Halsin just stands in random spots of the camp now lol. He acts like shes not there, I think I just broke him or something

Is there a persuasion check to get them to work together? I didnt see one in the list of dialogue options but we dont know exactly how much was cut. Like say to halsin youll keep her in check or actually get to know her a bit before he makes the ultimatum?

Personally, I wish Larian kept this in like Mass Effect's scenes with Jack/Miranda and Tali/Legion. I would LOVE to see Halsin and Minthara acknowledge each other and banter. I'm impressed of every permutation Larian thought of but kinda sad Larian didn't foresee players saving both. Still wonderful, still awesome game.

Luckily, I never got this cutscene. Halsin would have been disappointed to learn he means so little to me compared to Minthara.

Wow.... I`m glad they cut this. Halsin`s being an unreasonable bigot here. He`s assuming her religion based on her race. That`s like running into an Arab and assuming they`re Muslim. Yes, most Arabs are Muslim, but not all are. Minthara is not a follower of Lolth, and hates that goddess. There is also an entire sect of Drow that follow Eilistraee which is depicted in BG3. Sending Minthara away also makes her susceptible to being controlled by the Absolute again.

I love the philosophical differences between these characters in terms of world view. Characters like Karlach are the embodiment of unrestrained world view, where she believes that the best outcome is always possible if navigated right. Whereas Minthara is the restrained worldview. Where the worst can always happen and thus, you must be ready at every moment. Both are compassionate in their own way, but its built around their optimism in how they look at the world
