I grew up a huge Ghost Rider fan and was obsessed with collecting his every comic book appearance. I even got the entire run of the The Champions, a team to which GR belonged. The Ghost Rider comic was cancelled my junior year in high school, but because I had one of the coolest college professors ever, she allowed me to write my senior thesis as a 6-issue script entitled "Return of the Ghost Rider". So when the movie came out, my friends were eager to hear my feedback. I told them, "It may not have been MY Ghost Rider. But I could believe it was Ghost Rider."

You should check out the movie "Drive Angry". It's a fun little homage to grindhouse cinema where Nick Cage plays a dead man who is resurrected and goes on a road trip to save a baby from a cultist's ritual. It's a little similar to Ghost Rider, but Drive Angry has more of a cartoony B movie vibe to it.

I am aware. I think I make the connection for a couple of reasons. First, Johnny Blaze has had to escape from Hell a couple of times in the comics. Also, Nic Cage plays characters in both who have names that are derivations of John - Johnny Blaze in GR, John Milton in DA. Lastly, the vibe of Drive Angry, with its similar road-centric, supernatural western feel, just feels in line with the GR movies to me.

Great video Minty, but your description of the film is mistaken. Ghost Rider is an Angel of Justice pulled down to hell and tortured to insanity by the devil. Blackheart is after the contract of San maganza. And he becomes a merging of Blackheart and the souls of the contract thus making him vulnerable to Ghost Rider’s penance stair. Also there is nothing strange about the Punisher staring Thomas Jane and John Travolta. It actually the best movie version of the character.
@tenzhitihsien888 Жыл бұрын
The Thomas Jane Punisher wasn't a movie, it was a very long episode of Friends. The One With Frank Castle. The only good thing about it was the fight with the Russian. It tried too hard to make the character sympathetic and pulled back on the violence.

I have likely seen this movie thousands of times because of @GhostRiderCash 🙃 My kid developed a weird obsession with skulls and skeletons before they were a year old. I remembered there being a comic about a flaming skull and had the bright idea to show it to him. So when he was about 4 years old and had been hyper focused on all things Ghost Rider for about a year, this movie came out. Still remember hearing him freak out in the other room, running in because I thought something was wrong and one of those Geico commercials were on TV. That’s how we learned about the movie, those goofy insurance commercials. Can’t imagine what he was thinking, sitting there watching the Simpsons or something and all of a sudden a “real live” Ghost Rider was on tv 😂

I still remember during summer, my mom was on the porch drinking and on the phone and I went out under my bedroom window sitting in the moonlight chanting my "spells" heh. But hey. It worked, I like dog food haha jk jk. But yea, because of dad I started loving skulls too and motorcycles. And one year he got me the ghost rider game for ps2. I never got to finish it, but lucky emulators are a thing and now I got the game again.
