Michael McDonald has one of those inimitable vocal tones that NOBODY can duplicate. It is identifiable the second he opens his mouth. Oh yeah, I LOVE HIM! Oh yeah, I love that he uses tried and true blue musicians. It shows you that seasoned musicians are worth their weight!

@@danwiggins4662 ... hey .. not quite true or fair .. Michael McDonald stepped in when Tommy Johnson got sick from burnout and then stepped back again when Tommy had recovered .. The Doobie Brothers never needed to be “saved “ or “revived “ .. they ROCK with and without Michael McDonald .. their joy in playing together on stage is infectious even decades later unlike some other bands at the time who were wracked with personality clashes and ego/domineering issues .. the Doobies are real brothers in rock music

I have to share that back in 1982. I worked in a health food store directly across the street from the Allentown, Pennsylvania Hilton, with the Doobie Brothers on their farewell tour, had rented the top two floors, the top one for themselves, and the second one down for the roadies. Well, who should come washing into the health food store but the entire band, including Michael McDonald, who is wearing a pink tux by the way looking for drinks and snacks to take with them on the road to their next gig in Washington DC. Well after I changed my underwear I got a chance to shake their hands, especially Michael’s, and I was overwhelmed and totally excited by the experience. The only other rock related experience I could share at another time was when I rode in the limo with Deep Purple, but what I’ve said, that is a time that will take place down the road in another comments section. Peace.

Don't we all wish we had the : handsome face, perfect hair, blue eyes, spectacular voice and talent of Michael McDonald? That guy must have more women in love with him than ants on a sugar pile? He's a beautiful human being to boot. He is manhood. Most of the rest of us should just go live in a remote monastery, and give up. Why do we thrive on remembering the excruciating pain of human animal relationships and separation. We're no different than lions and wildebeest on the Serengeti. The imperfect, the inadequate on the edge of the herd get eaten. I can barely stand to listen to these wonderful songs sometimes. The memories, bitter pain is simply to much? Yet, it's so perfectly conceived and performed it's irresistible. I miss them all so much; all the people we once loved. If there is anything resembling sacred in this living hell, it's the shared pain of lost love we all experience. No mercy in this void. Thanks for sharing. I will now burn one in their honor.
