Tobey never left Afghanistan after what he went through. Literally the very reason why 90% of vets struggle to function in a civilian world is because they are hard wired for battle. This movie is criminally underated.
@wren7195 Жыл бұрын
It's... also very subtly hinted as to why the dad's so messed up, and why he sees Tobey as "the good son," despite having gone through the madness of it himself. I've seen some men hanging by a thread, trying to kill themselves through drink and drugs and nothingness, go through the Corps and come out better men. I've seen good men go through and never come back the same. And I've seen a few go in bad, come out bad, go in good, come out good. War is... vile. Whether it's being run by bloodthirsty madmen, or poor individuals forced to set their humanity aside to survive... or worst of all, those who don't give up their principles when they go through it... it is a vile, evil thing. I love MM, but sometimes the flick doesn't match the vibe, at least if you've got servicemen in your family. My dear nephew went to Afghanistan, came home safe, and has brain issues from getting run over by an elderly driver... he was on electric utility repair in his new career. He's "ok," can still do his job and is Thank God alive, but he's got permanent tinnitus and headaches. It's not even so much that they're hardwired for battle, they're hardwired for battle when they're sent over there... it's the "other stuff" that some of them go through that they can get away from. The pure evil that humanity can do to one another. And how desperately lost and broken your own resolute, sturdy mind can become when you've not slept for four days straight, are dehydrated, and in constant widespread pain. From personal experience I can tell you that you start to lose your mind. Throw the worst evil humanity can offer you into that mix? Take care out there Brandon, be safe.

Yeah my uncle was in Vietnam and saw body parts flying everywhere. He later got shot up and a helicopter pulled up immediately to get him and his buddy tried dragging him to the helicopter before being killed and then someone else came up behind my uncle and starting dragging him closer before he was also killed and then one of the people on board jumped out the helicopter and continued dragging my uncle and threw him on the helicopter before he was also killed and as the helicopter was taking off my uncle was shot a couple more times. It’s because they don’t see it or go through it. They just see the man come back from it. If they truly saw the events a lot of these men went through, they’d be a lot more understanding. I wasn’t deployed during my time in but I’ve been around a lot that have that have shared their experiences with me through stories, videos, photos, all of awful shit they saw and had to do. I can only imagine what it actually felt like to be them in those places doing those things or having things be done to you. That’s why I try to be as understanding and root for those people cause they might not even be rooting for themselves. In the end, we will never fully understand or know what they went through. All we can do is be there for them and try to help them cause they deserve it.
