"Songland" serves as a destination for music's biggest stars to find their next hit. The series is an authentic peek into the process of songwriting and provides one winner per episode the opportunity to have their song released by chart-topping artists. Season 2 guest recording artists include Boyz II Men, Florida Georgia Line, Luis Fonsi, H.E.R., Lady A, Martina McBride, Julia Michaels, Ben Platt, Bebe Rexha and Usher. Four songwriters will perform their original tracks in front of the guest artist and three of the most successful producers in music - Ryan Tedder (lead singer of OneRepublic and four-time Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer), Ester Dean (Grammy-nominated songwriter, producer) and Shane McAnally (three-time Grammy-winning songwriter and producer). In the end, a winner will be chosen and their song will be recorded and released for a global audience.

i don't get some of these comments. imo I feel like some of the songs that hit the hardest are the ones that are intended for a girl but wound up being sung by a guy (or vice versa)... this girl is a dope writer. Trying to judge her skill based on how well it suits usher is trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. I mean I get that the parameters of the show and this challenge is to write a Usher-sounding song. But I fully believe that if the tables were turned (i.e., Usher were a brand new artist and Miranda Glory was an established veteran) that people would STILL be in the comments like "oh but he didn't write a song that's good for HER, so he needs to change it."...I think that those lines in the hook that they asked her to remove coulda hit HARD coming out of usher, simply BECAUSE they are more effeminate. Miranda, you do you!

I thought the original was better than Ryan's original but definitely not for Usher. Many of the selections don't come down to the best songwriter as much as how well they match the artist... I hope someone else picks this up (as is, the rewritten version felt too generic lyrically)
