In the book, the new Misery novel he writes under the supervision of Annie Wilkies turns out to be his best book of the series. And he decides to publish it in the end. Not to mention the little “surgery” Annies does do his foot is actually a smart decision since he has a problem to his leg that would have become much worse if not operated. So King’s book almost has a complete happy ending for Paul, affer all the drama and the horror.
