I wish there could be a prequel to this. I would love to know Annie's backstory. The murders when she was a nurse... Her family...perhaps an ex husband she killed? The character needs her own story.

Fun fact: King's book, Misery was inspired by a real semi-obsessive fan of King's, and one of her letters got him thinking, "Hmm...what if this person...was just a little bit worse?", and she gave him his next novel idea!

Incredible acting from Mrs Bates. Misery is one of my all time favorite books. I was skeptical about the movie, but it really does justice to Stephen King's work surely the best movie adaptation of any his books. I can read it twice an year for the rest of my life and will always fascinate and scare me.. One of the few of its genre that really have you thinking, it could really happen to you. A real classic, and movie is a must watch for every King fan.

I saw the movie first and read the book afterwards and I have to say, she is soooo accurate to the description of her in the book. Even the little facial twitches and everything. She truly earned that Oscar. I also think that Mr. Sheldons actor deserved an Oscar too. He was exactly like his counter part, and in some ways, better. Like when he shoved the burnt papers down her throat, he was calm in the book but I prefer the rage in the movie.

This movie makes me feel bad for any famous person if they end up getting treated like this by their #1 fans. Annie Wilkes is the type of person to be locked up in a nuthouse

I love her 😂❤ My whole family quotes her from time to time so freakin nutty lol.. she's even worse in the book! In a way, I feel sad for her character, because she seems so lost and desiring of admiration/companionship while obviously battling severe untreated mental illness(s). But yeah, in the book, she actually chops off his foot and then flame torches the stump to stop the bleeding... WILD STUFF MAN 💀

In the book, the new Misery novel he writes under the supervision of Annie Wilkies turns out to be his best book of the series. And he decides to publish it in the end. Not to mention the little “surgery” Annies does do his foot is actually a smart decision since he has a problem to his leg that would have become much worse if not operated. So King’s book almost has a complete happy ending for Paul, affer all the drama and the horror.

Kathy Bates was only reason i liked this movie, I loved the book but the movie was quite boring. Kathy was reason I kept watching, it was never boring when she was on.

I tend to agree. Kathy Bates makes this film worth watching. Everyone else is just along for the ride. Although I do think Lauren Bacall gave an added touch to the film.
