I think the artist you were trying to think of is Wayne England- he was an old school Warhammer artist with an iconic style. Great episode, either way- kitbash/conversion is my favorite part of the hobby. Thanks, guys! Edit: Just listening further, and you were talking about the Iron Father kitbash/conversion- the Indomitus pattern Terminator armor is totally acceptable and lore-accurate for use in Horus Heresy, if your army is at the time of the Siege Of Terra, but also any time for the Iron Hands. Their Gorgon Pattern armor is almost identical to Indomitus, and is an accepted version of it. The Iron Hands had so much input and personalization of their armor, especially Terminator armor, that using Indomitus squads in a limited number is often found at Horus Heresy events. To some extent, you’ll also see some used for the Salamanders, and sometimes the Imperial Fists, as well (but mostly for the Siege). Usually, as long as you put in some effort to modify and convert it in a unique way, you’ll find that it’s not only acceptable at those events or games, but other modelers will really appreciate it and want to compliment and to talk to you about it.

The Ballistus Dreadnought’s gun arm is made from a 30K Sicaran Battle Tank’s Accelerator Autocannon- specifically from the rotating turret’s main weapon. I don’t know what they used for the muzzle brake/ flash hider on the end, but the vents and barrel are from the Sicaran. If it isn’t the Sicaran, it’s the Autocannon from one of the Custodes 30K Grav-tanks.
