I’m 54 and haven’t had a period in 4 years, my journey started almost 10 years ago, the list of symptoms is long but I can tell you that my numerous doctors have been all women and all dismissive. My marriage is damaged by the lack of libido and the exhaustion from hot flashes and depression. This video brought tears to my eyes. I will ask my endocrinologist if I’m a good candidate but I’ve lost hope. Thank you for this information.

Amen, ladies! I agree with every word both of you said! I have to say though, never mind the uneducated doctors, a lot of women are their own biggest enemies on this topic. I live in Holland and the majority of women I speak to on this subject are dismissive about menopause and its effects. They attribute their symptoms, especially the psychological ones to other factors. Busy lives, stress at work, unhappy relationships. Or they just point blank deny having any symptoms at all while just speaking about high blood pressure for instance. I have stopped advocating for hrt to women that start listing all kinds excuses for their bad mental or physical health because I have learned they aren't interested in hearing my het story, my experience and knowledge.

It's another kind of disgusting bitter taste when some women also do this..... I will never understand that. I see this over and over, it's really hard to not think about sabotage. Someone/group of people purposely hidding the truth: because women dont matter to them/society. If men were going through this, you bet it wouldnt be constantly ignore like this or chalked up to HYSTERIA. It's pretty F disgusting how we still go through this and so many women still go Y E A R S without help and "doctors" telling us it's all in our heads.... And you bet it'll keep happening because they arent taught that in med school, or even school for kids. Lack of empathy everywhere, lack of education: severe lack of RIGHTS.

Thank you for posting this via KZbin. I was unable to watch it in IG without it cutting off. Menopause shouldn’t be classified as a mental illness issue like anxiety and depression. It is horrible how much a woman’s physical pain and mental health can be linked to her hormonal balance and we get told to avoid hormones but here’s a drug that can make you feel suicidal. Wait. What? I so wish I could be at the Miribal retreat!!! I would love to share my experience.

Thank you, your chat really empowers me and changes my perspective on this stage of my life. I am 50, probably approaching perimenopause, though I don't have many symptoms apart from my cycle is getting longer to be 44 days, instead of 30 days as it had been in the past. My mum however developed Alzheimer at 76 dispite being so healthy all her life, so I am probably predisposed to the same disease. I will most definitely consider HRT to protect my brain as much as I can.

if we have had hormones our whole lives why would some ppl NOT be able to take them at peri-menopause or menopause? Wouldn't we just be REPLACING something that goes away?? Similar to the thyroid hormone?

Because they dont want to spend money on something to make women get better, because women dont matter..... Why else would it be SO EXCRUCIATINGLY complicated, from one generation to the next, to get help at all and stop being gaslit about EVERYTHING related to our bodies, not just menopause. Everything, related,to,our,bodies. Because: control.

Will bioidentical estrogen (in a patch) impact a thyroid replacement dose? There is conflicting information from Doctors, product monographs and customer leaflets. Will TSH be impacted and if so is it temporary (my body would get used to it. My thyroid was destroyed years ago RAI. I have all clinical symptoms of post menopause (I am 67) as well as low thyroid. My estrogen level is very very low. How long on each dose of patch to notice any changes. I have been provided different information about it to from GP, gyn, and endocrinologist.

So what about hrt and insomnia?. I am going through a difficult balancing act here. Have been trying to find my best dose for a half yr now. I feel that the migronized progesterone is causing me grief. If I take at bed time i get adverse symptoms, tried to take it in am and I end up dizzy by noon. Doc said it is the estrogen causing insomnia. She suggested 1 pump estrogen gel and one 100 micronized progesterone , every second day. So that did work for better sleep,but I end up with symptoms of sore joints, low mood fuzzy head etc. I feel it is too low of a dose to gain the benifits . Started working up to daily one pump E. one pill P. Now symptoms are easing but my sleep is suffering again. Omg what now! ? Been to naturalpath, helpful but here in Canada she can't subscribe HRT. So my doc needs to approve and prescribe what the naturalpath, recommends re hrt. Such a run around. I am 63 my doc is agreeable on the most part, but wish she could offer alternatives to help my situation.
@lf7065
@lf7065 Жыл бұрын
Insomnia is caused by not enough estradiol! You probably need to go much higher in dose! And if you take progesterone transdermally, not a pill, you will not experience those side effects, from what I understand. Your doctor is not knowledgeable enough on menopause, unfortunately.

I have a serious question I'm hoping you can help answer: Can I have HRT, being 18 months past breast cancer diagnosis and mastectomy? I was 8.5 ER positve, 6.5 PR positive and 9.4 HER2 negative. At the time, my chemo doc said it was ok to not take Tamoxifen, as it made me ill 2 weeks in...she said my numbers were very good. My GP is a nice man but is basically unwilling to prescribe HRT as he believes it will do more harm than good. Problem is, I am really suffering and have been for quite some time. I'm 55 and have all the things: night sweats, moodiness, hair loss, dry skin, vaginal dryness, joint and muscle pain, headaches, arthritic joints getting worse...it's all leading to a depressive state (my doc suggested SSRIs, I told him I'd rather try to treat the cause - everything you fantastic ladies talked about!).

I had BC 13 years ago, also ER/PR positive. Stopped taking tamoxifen after 3 years due to the side effects. Using HRT is a very personal decision that only you (and a supportive doctor) can explore because nothing is risk-free. But after reading Avrum Bluming MD’s book about the faulty WHI study, I found an MD who was willing to prescribe HRT for me. It’s a total game-changer! I’m 60 years old. Good luck with whatever you decide 😊

I would argue that your blood work is not OK. I don’t think it’s being looked at in the right way. Many doctors don’t know how to interpret lab work and that is probably the case because if you have symptoms obviously your hormones are not optimal.

I AM A MAN. I am on 5 hormones and one of them is progesterone. It is a disengenous lie by doctors to say you only need progesterone if you have a uterus. PROGESTERONE is a master "control" hormone. It is a precursor hormone to the cortisone like hormones and the indespensible hormones Cortisol and Aldosterone. Progesterone helps with thyroid and parathyroid hormones. Progesterone regulates testosterone, estradiol and DHT. It may regulate estrone( the back door reservoir hormone for estradiol conversion in overweight people). Progesterone and testosterone are even more important then Estradiol in menopausal women. Most people dont realize that testosterone is a Paracrine hormone which partially gets converted to estradiol in bodily tissues at the "correct" percentages that that tissue wants to see. It makes no sense to supplement with estradiol without first optimizing progesterone and testosterone FIRST before giving estradiol. FINALLY: And this is very important; progesterone sensitizes estradiol receptors. Doctors can scare women away from progesterone because they GAVE ESTRADIOL FIRST and overloaded the womans body. So when a patient inqires about progesterone and they get it; the womans body goes nuts as if you accidently gave them 4x estradiol. and they then get symtoms of high estrogen and the doctor tells them to get off progesterone. They should just reduce the estradiol supplementation as they get more optimized progesterone You have to have progesterone and testosterone optimized first before giving estradiol

Does insurance cover HRT? I’m thinking no because of this horrendous study in 2022. If not, is anything being done about it, is anyone lobbying for insurance companies to cover these drugs for us suffering women. Just curious. Thanks

Yes, a lot of hormones are covered by insurance. You can get bioidentical estradiol patches and progesterone from any pharmacy and they are covered by insurance. You can also get a bioidentical estradiol cream and other vaginal products that are covered by insurance.

It depends on your insurance company and your particular plan, whether hormones are covered. Mine does not cover hormones for menopause. It makes me angry that they’re allowed to deny women this treatment! Anyway, I use the coupons from GoodRx for my generic versions of estradiol patch and micronized progesterone, which makes them very affordable. I highly recommend GoodRx.

? Men already have that help. It's studied so much, and recognized. I'm sure you're not being told it's in your head, that it doesnt exist, or to just clench your jaw and 'get over it' etc. A LOT of women's health issues arent talked about, arent believed to be true etc. If you want to talk about gen1t@ls, other equivalent debilitating illnesses in women are completely ignored. Count the amounts of clinics for erectile dysfucntion, there are a lot and they have been around for a long time. Now do this for women....huge difference, IF you can find any at all. ALSO, it has been proven that young and younger men can get that problem really early due to abusing m@sturbat1on.... check it out. This goes too for being obese. You ever consider any of this before going to a women's health video and just complain nonsense??? Because that says a lot about you guys......
