@@RobertJohnson-hp4gz Actually, the one in question is a woman: Laylah Rose, the current President of Miss USA Organization. But, there is much more than women being women in this context, unfortunately. (1) Both of those (former) winners had competed in pageant for years. Noelia (former Miss USA 2023) competed 7 years before winning the crown. It is questionable to assume that she just wants to be a victim. (2) Many of the promised presents are not yet given to those (former) winners. The winners were promised Porsche and lux apartment, which are still not given. (3) One out of 3 staff who were terminated recently spoke that the organization is experiencing some issues. Ms. Laylah Rose, the new president of the organization, allegedly, could not talk to UmaSofia (Former Miss Teen USA 2024) because her parents filed for a restraining order against her due to the way she treated UmaSofia. Good point-who cares any longer about "beauty queens"?
@talktothehandreviews7 ай бұрын
Actually I used to do pageants when I was a teenager and I found them to be really great in a lot of ways. They help girls with opportunities, self esteem and public speaking. I was in some Miss America prelims and some Miss USA prelims. They are very different pageants or at least they were in the late 80's early 90's when I did them. In Miss USA, Talent used to be judged as 50% of your score but I think I remember that Miss USA Prelims don't even have a talent competition. I think instead they did a daywear thing. Yes it's a little odd to have girls up there in their swimsuits but overall I really enjoyed the five pageants I was in. I never won any but I placed second runner up in one and also miss congeniality and miss photogenic. I cherish those awards. Young girls don't usually get enough positive reinforcement to do anything unusual or reach for the stars-ish. Pageants really helped me and gave me more self esteem. I totally know what you mean that it seems that they're toxic but for the most part it really was wonderful. I look back now and remember that most of the girls were wonderful, positive and forward looking, thinking and dreaming. That's hard to find because everyone always wants to talk you out of pursuing your dreams.

@@RA-wp6th Every woman wears that much makeup nowadays, honestly. Women in the public eye are expected to look like that or they are eviscerated by their public. Also, every pageant contestant has a sponsor she sort of has to please. Most of mine in the five pageants I was in were great but I had one sponsor who was a jerk. Still, what I got out of it greatly outweighed the negative aspects. A lot of girls/women don't get many chances to do anything like what pageants have to offer so I do think overall I would recommend them to young girls looking for new opportunities. I would even recommend them to older women as there are also pageants geared toward older women. Swimsuits seem a little out dated but then even in bodybuilding competitions women wear bikinis. I won a small scholarship when I placed second runner up in one of the pageants I was in and so that did pay for my books for school. The Miss America preliminary pageants used to call themselves a 'scholarship pageant', I don't know if they still do. Anyhooo, just my two cents. Cheers!

I tried to become Miss Maryland this year, but because I didn’t have the money or support system to join, I ended up not going on board, which may be for the best. On top of mental health concerns as mentioned in this video, what happened on the phone was when I told the person on the other line that my parents at the time bully me weekly, she didn’t care. She only cared about my money, despite the fact that I already had a beautiful résumé and references to go off of. I’m sorry, but I don’t think it’s right for these organizations to put money and selfish desires first over the well-beings of those who wish to join in the first place. Is the organization in this case being truthful about respecting decisions? Maybe, but until more is revealed, I hope that more beauty organizations would make beauty pageants less about money and power. Fortunately, I have met some photographers and filmmakers in the Midsouth who do put responsibility first so shoutout to them. ❤❤❤

Miss USA and Teen USA will never be closed or stop. Poor of these two girls who resigned because they will be removed from the clusters of winners. Maybe they speaks out about their ill- feelings toward the organization when their reign is over.

Why? Nobody is forcing anybody to do anything. If some people want to participate, let them.

I just wonder if what happened to the Miss USA from 2019 has any ties to the current scandal? If not, mental health is so very important.

Obviously it's not being taken seriously or they wouldn't be resigning 🤔

Didn't a Miss USA commit suicide not too long ago? There's something going on here...

Nothing has forced me to develop my interpersonal, presentational, and professional skills faster than pageantry. What a shame these national orgs don't empower the very women who make up the organization! If MUO can't back their titleholders wanting to be more than a pretty face, then MUO should stop the pageant entirely.

why shouldn't they, sounds like they spent up t eight years preparing and competing, before being treated so badly they resigned after all that time

Obviously these ladies want to rule with their own mind and heart views. Being silenced is the same as not being able to speak freely. ❤

Since establishing the scholarship program in 1945, the Miss America program has distributed more than $150 million in educational grants, making it the world's largest scholarship program for women. The number of people who shame the industry that is providing money for women to educate themselves. I feel so bad it is a industry has turned into a toxic industry saddens me.

They all want the title, but do NOT want the job that comes with it. This is not fair to all those who wanted the job and worked hard for it. I blame the winners.

The statements from the pageant sound “boiler- plate” to me and wouldn’t be surprised if more women left 🤔
