I see the value in the "first impression cut". Let's be real, a lot of judging occur just like this: "I look at you to see if you have potential and if you don't present the required picturesque factors then i'm not interested in swimsuit, speaking ability, or gown/elegance". We have to be real with our contestants. I honestly think that Miss USA is finally trying to find a Miss Universe contender vs just a Miss USA winner. It's the USA fighting to actually send contenders that actually earn their place in the Miss Universe Semi-finalist and not just based on "sash factor". A contender that actually has a chance to win Miss Universe.

I feel the preliminary competition IS the first impression for all contestants in 3 categories.

Love the opening dance number. But I prefer if the contestants introduced themselves than the male announcer. I also agree that they should have been introduced wearing their state costumes. Texas is fine as a winner. But Kansas was my bet. She already looks like a Miss Universe & could be a threat to the latinas. But those stairs did her & many of the girls dirty. Only Ohio navigated those stairs in the best possible way. I prefer last year’s staging with a straight ramp in front. The only one I surprised who didn’t make it was my homestate New Jersey. North Carolina was the face of this year’s competition. She would be a great Miss USA as well. Good luch to R’Bonney. She’s a good choice as well.

Thanks for this special Miss Dani. I also hated the idea where Top 16 didn’t do anything but were cut down to 12. So sad. I enjoyed last year’s production more. The crowning moment too went by too fast just like last year also. I’m so super I cannot find any HD photo of that crowning moment *_* Miss USA generally needs to catch up production wise for me. I agree too, Contestants didn’t have enough time for runway.

I loved that you did this with your pageant sister! So fun. Overall, I was not a fan of the production. I wanted the live intros, the "Pitbull" or some headline performer. Zuri was great, but yes, who is she? We need to showcase these contestants MUCH better. Why was the evening gown SO rushed? They barely got downstairs and rushed off the stage. Miss Thailand's production got that perfect. The contestants spent so much money on their dresses or had them sponsored- let's show those off! And the anti climatic announcing of Miss USA?!!!!

8:48 -- It is kinda uncommon (no offense meant) that the ladies wore their sashes during SS and EG on finals night. Usually they'd do this only during prelims, right? Whereas on finals, they do not wear their sashes for the said two rounds and would wear it again during the top 10 , top 5 and final 3 announcements. Just saying. 🙂

Miss USA and Miss Teen USA Needs to Return and Improve their Production and Miss Universe is Ahead of those 2 because they return their production in just 2 years while Miss USA Is in the Past 3 Years while Miss Teen USA is 14 years since 2008 due to lack of offers and going on streaming services and i missed when it was On Television because it’s the only Teen Pageant at that time that was televised majorly until 2008 and Miss USA it’s just 3 years to take to return and their production is still the same like what happened to the audience, what happened to the lighting, what happened to the camera angles, what happened to the cameraman, what happened to the energy and Miss Universe Return those stuff for just 2 years only welp 1 year but still they need to return and even the music on the pageant

Miss USA 2019 was probably the last best production to date. The stage, music, camera angles, commentary & camera time and let alone suspense. All of that was missing this year's Miss USA & can we talk about the stairs? Crystle Stewart couldn't walk in her own evening gown but had the nerve to have the girls walk down a flight of stairs while making eye contact, smiling & not falling/tripping over? mmhmmm ...big miss steak. huge

DANI!!!! Omg you look like you just walked off the Miss Universe stage absolutely stunning! Amazing recap and loved hearing from Brooke as well. As a life long pageant fan I am absolutely disappointed by this year’s Miss USA pageant. The production felt like a state level pageant. It was a cringeworthy trainwreck and a far cry from the Miss USA I grew up with. My family does a Miss USA watch party every year and we almost forgot about Miss USA because it wasn’t advertised well. I watched with some of my friends this year including some who haven’t watched pageants in awhile and they all thought it was awful and wouldn’t want to watch it again unless changes were made. I’m so sad because I love pageants and I almost didn’t want to finish watching because of what a disaster this was. If Dani Walker was the Miss USA director it would literally be the most amazing thing ever and not this trainwreck of a pageant I watched yesterday. And I loved Crystle when she was a Miss USA and her being a former Miss USA and not delivering makes this all the more disappointing. Anyways sorry for the rant. Great video as always there’s truly no one better at pageant videos than you! ❤️❤️❤️

Agreed with the stairs. At Miss Universe Thailand, the producers initially wanted all the girls walking down the stairs at final for top10. After all the girls tried and struggled, they decided to have the top 10 appeared between the stairs during evening gown competition instead. And later have them all up the stairs for final look before called out for the top5.

As right now, we are probably having one of the toughest years at MU.

Honestly I did not like This pageant. My first issue was the streaming service $140 for all the shows that’s way more than any streaming service that offers more. It used to be free. This pageant felt rushed and like a lot of time was not put into it. The first impression was very weird to me I understand that’s what pageants is about the look but miss USA mostly used to be about their platform. I wish they would go back to top 15 top 10 top 5 it made way more sense me to than this time around. Great recap!! I hated the 16 to 12 cut (and hated it when MAO basically did the same thing). Did the interview clip they “randomly” picked impact judging? Was it a bigger disadvantage to be called first/earlier because you were more forgettable? I know there’s always an element of randomness with ordering, but it really felt like the “first impression” idea exacerbated that and could have been a huge disadvantage for contestants like DC…

I agree that Ohio did outshine in evening gown and swimwear, but she dropped the ball in the Q&A period. After the Q&A segment, I knew they weren't going to pick her. She didn't show presence and assertiveness which is needed for a Miss USA and Miss Universe. As a future Miss USA or future Miss Universe representative/winner, do understand that you will be a spokesperson and therefore should not be comfortable being in the "back-seat". So at that point, I knew Texas would have been the winner. The only threat for Texas at that point was Nebraska: whom honestly doesn't have the "it factor" or significant presence to stand out amongst the other Miss Universe contenders this year. The fact that Miss USA chose Texas tells me they are fighting for a Miss Universe crown and not just a good "Miss USA winner": i.e. Ohio/Nebraska/North Carolina. P.S. that doesn't mean the competition is rigged, that means you chose your best contender! #stopbeingsorelosers

I was actually nervous they would choose Nebraska like how they have chosen their winner since 2016. I am glad they picked the most consistent and most well-rounded contestant this time. Miss USA finally picked a contender for the Miss Universe crown. But Rbonney will need polishing and I am not sure if Miss Academy or current Miss USA can do it. I think it's best to send her in the Philippines for training like what Miss Cambodia did to Manita Hang.
@bradfordturner89782 жыл бұрын
@@lukes.3488 I agree that out of all the contestants, Miss USA picked the one with the most potential. If I were the other contestants, I would be ashamed to admit(spill tea) that "I was so out shined by the declared winner that from the beginning of the pageant process the organisation decided I wasn't enough"(that's an insult to myself: like how much more can you induce self sabotage to your image). Don't they understand that they are hurting themselves. The Miss USA process is not the end or totality of your life's career and do recognise that how you handle LOSSES, other prospects/talent agencies are watching. Who wants to hire a complainer that "spills tea" when they don't get their way. They are sad/bitter! Do better! But I do agree, Rbonney is going to need more work, maybe beyond "Miss Academy's" ability. I need a better evening gown performance. HOWEVER, what I love about Rbonney is the way her performance looks natural and not calculated. I hope that no matter the training she gets in the future, the "natural delivery" is maintained.

@Taylor Monte there needs to be a gown worn that not only is beautiful but also fits the personality, character, walk, and overall strengths that the contestant possesses.

I hate the table talk!! Why does being polite and waiting for your turn to speak get misconstrued as unassertive and not showing presence? I think they should all have their own time and not trying to jump over each other to answer.

I feel the production of Miss USA changed! It looked like a school project from the broadcasting dept. I miss the Miss USA when IMG was in control of the pageant. Other than that I love this review! KEEP SPILLING THE TEA!

I agree. The Miss USA 2019 production is a sight to behold especially the opening number and the final 2 part. Ironic that it was the same place when Cheslie was crowned, but the announcement this year was devoid of suspense.

First, l should thank you for your consistent postings. A lot of the other pageant commentators are inconsistent or have seemingly evaporated for whatever reason. You, Dani Walker, bring a lot of passion, knowledge and substance to the process. I always look forward to your submissions. Brooke was a fun addition. You can certainly hold the spotlight on your own but you are gracious to share it and having a cohort adds another dimension. It was a fun recap. Thanks!

many would not agree with you about new mexico. she has a common look at MISS UNIVERSE. she deserve top 12. she is better than minessota your fave. this time many looked at her moving on the competition.

DC mastered stairs in prelims but unfortunately didn’t make it past top 16! I wanted a longer Cheslie tribute esp since her mom and dad were watching and did an IG video showing their support for the show. I don’t like the talking over each other I wish they asked girls directly questions for the round table. I agree production could be improved. Enjoyed the review!

You stated that its funny how Ohio as a black women got that question but how about Texas getting that specific question with her upcycling of garments. ... Funny indeed
