After everything our community has gone through, we couldn’t be any more proud of our representative from Hawai’i. She is a Maui girl who sacrificed pageant training to serve our people first. Her response to her interview and final question had so much nuance that only Hawai’i people could pick on. It didn’t translate well to the U.S audience but it was selfless, giving and what we call kokua (dutiful). Mahalo Savannah for what you did. Yes this was Miss USA but I got emotional as I saw a contestant who represented the nation of Hawai’i with aloha. Imua Hawai’i!!!!! #mauistrong

I actually was able to watch Miss USA 2023 on my local CW network free. It came on TV. Also, I started out judging the contestants on my own (fun thing to do during the competition) and I had Utah in the lead from the very beginning! After the top 5 was announced, I was judging and I just gave Utah a 9.9 bc she was the obvious winner! Her answer to the final question was, ironically, a point I have been trying to make for YEARS! THE USA IS THE MOST RACIALLY DIVERSE COUNTRY IN THE WORLD AND THE ONLY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD WHERE THE WINNER’S ROOTS COME FROM LITERALLY EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD! For example, last year I got “blowback” from people when I said R’Bonney was 100% American and my point was that we are the only country in the world where literally every country and nationality is represented and that quality is 100% an American 🇺🇸 ideal! (BTW, shoutout to Kirby Self, Miss SC who is from my hometown of Greenwood, SC and was fabulous! She was also Miss SC teen and was 1st runner up! GOOD LUCK IN THE FUTURE, KIRBY!)

@harrysanders5221 Жыл бұрын
Here's an idea: let's embrace cutting-edge technology. Instead of the traditional questioning rounds, why not have Artificial Intelligence generate scenarios for the final contestants to immerse themselves in on screen? Imagine this: contestants on a green screen, placed in real-life scenarios. For instance, the host could inform a contestant that there's a new conflict in the country of Georgia, and its citizens are gathered in the town square, protesting. The contestant would then have the opportunity to address the crowd in that town square. With the magic of AI, we can bring this scenario to life, complete with visuals, screaming crowds, and a captivated audience. It's time to step up the game and truly engage the viewers. Let's get with the program!
@christina.kleman Жыл бұрын

It actually went past the point of being comfortable and all it did was to not allow us to watch Noella's first walk as our new Miss USA. I agree with your assessment that the women themselves made the night, the staging and production did them no favors. Thanks Dani!

DC and Virginia needed better gowns. I believe the gown Texas wore to finals was a replacement and wasn't the gown she had planned on wearing because hers ripped backstage. I was shocked New York didn't make top 20. Utah got passed up not once, but twice in Alabama where she won runner up two years in a row. Alabama really missed out on crowning her as Miss Alabama and bringing the Miss USA crown back to Alabama after so long. Miss USA has a great chance for a back to back at MU, I just hope Noelia has a team behind her helping her prepare and not in a situation like Rbonney was where she was left to prep all on her own.

Amazing Miss USA recap, Dani - amazing content as always. I truly look to you as a benchmark for quality pageant vlogger content, especially when I create my own! Just wanted to get your thoughts on two things: * I know you mentioned that R’Bonney had a VERY good reason for not attending Miss USA this year, but what do you think about the fact there’s no mention of her winning Miss Universe AT ALL? I know it’s a different scenario, e.g. in the Philippines where a Filipina Miss Universe retains her title and doesn’t give it up to her 1RU. Nonetheless I think it’s such a huge achievement for the USA to win Miss Universe (especially now that it’s not an American-owned organisation), and other countries make so much more of a big deal of it. I realise it was important to give Morgan her chance to shine and not be seen (too much) as R’Bonney’s replacement, but I’m keen to hear your thoughts on how a USA win at Miss Universe could be better acknowledged and celebrated? In years past, Olivia’s and even Chelsi’s and Brook’s victories were similarly downplayed, so I don’t think it’s purely to do with R’Bonney being in Paris * Much less importantly, but what do you think of the contestants being allowed to place their sash across their swimsuit or gown, as opposed to having it hanging over their shoulder, like they were allowed to do in the 1980s and 1990s? I personally liked the consistency of everyone wearing them over the shoulder, but I understand some of the queens want to show off certain details of their gown, for example, which could potentially be obscured by the higher-placed sash Greetings from Sydney, Australia! Scepter was silly when there’s a big bouquet.

2:36 I don’t agree with you on Jordan Kimball. He was good on prelims but I saw some scenes where he was hella uncomfortable during finals. Too uncomfortable that it could be read as being homophobic. He looked like a fish out of water😬😬😬

Love the recap Dani, as always ❤❤❤❤❤ it seems that since the end of the Trump era, none of the directors/owners/management has a clue how to put on a complete, cohesive show, and cover all aspects the way the Trump era did. Seems like some people need to be fired or perhaps hired to get on top of these things. To think Miss USA was the OG sister pageant of Miss Universe, and how far the production and overall quality has fallen. Hopefully the Laylah Rose era will usher in more good than bad. Definitely Noelia is USA's best bet. So long as she doesn't succumb to the pressure, she can surely make it all the way to the final question. Miss USA needs to move to a better host city and venue, revamp their media/marketing strategy, properly structure the pre pageant calendar and activities for the contestants, stream the State Costume competition and the preliminary competition as well as finals once the crowning is over, step all the way up on their social media game, step up on Miss USA's year and what she will be doing, bring back the pre pageant trip but to somewhere in the US to promote American tourism, step up the entertainment for the show, get hosts and commentators who have actual pageant knowledge or at the least are in fashion, beauty and entertainment and can provide colour commentary on those aspects of the show. It was nice to have Morgan be the commentator but they should've had someone who knows what the hell they're talking about or atleast has the charisma and skill to give colour commentary to have been her co-commentator. Also please bring back the tradition of having the reigning Miss Universe attend the coronation night and be part of the crowning moment. It's such a clear indication of the deterioration of Miss USA in rankings. What's impressive is in the midst of arguably the most poorly managed period of the pageant, USA manged to win a Miss Universe title and also produce great contenders for the MU title. Anyways, all the best Noelia in your reign and your prep for Miss Universe ❤

You really should be an event co-ordinator. Also very fashion savvy.

Is it true that the final question wasn’t part of the judging this year? Miss Hawaiis mom said that the final question was not judged at all.

I have no idea. I haven't seen a Miss USA statement released that says they didn't score it.

I am a big fan of miss universe and miss the USA ❣️ Iam watching these beauty pageant since 2010 but unfortunately 😕 the quality and standard of these pageant is declining year by year.

Personally I’m glad R’Bonney had other life changing opportunities. The way USA treated her, she didn’t need that energy in her life. She won UNIVERSE (primarily on her own) , so she’s definitely on a different, higher, more positive and productive level. However they could have acknowledged her. They’ve done that in the past with other Miss USA’s who went on to win Miss Universe and other countries do it as well…it’s called respect and common courtesy.

I agree. They could have made mention of her win!

And one last thing…I miss the days where they mentioned the 1st runner up and then excitedly blurted out the name of the new winner! Watching recaps of recent pageants, most years, they don’t even give the first runner up a mention at all! Wouldn’t it have been better if this year they said….” First runner up is…..HAWAII AND THE NEW MISS USA IS UTAH!!!!! That was so much more exciting!

To be honest Miss USA Is becoming stingy year by year. No activities for the ladies (contestants), or recreation of any sorts. I get that it's a beauty pageant and they have a budget. Look at the Philippines and Thailand and even South Africa. They are up in the game. Us as a fan we didn't get much to see anything not to mention the Miss USA national costume and finals. Boring.

daaammmnnn... not "giving amazon?!" ouch!!! 🤭 the shade of it all! i agree though, the ladies saved what was a low-budget hot mess of a production. i thought they were muting the audience sound on the stream, and they never really showed them, so we had no idea that the venue was half-full. you know what though? it can only go up from here, so (OJALA) we learn and grow and improve for next year's class. it's a very smart & saavy move to select a spanish speaking venezuelan/american for a miss universe pageant to be held in el salvador. and i've stalked her instagram... she's true to her south american background. this is no gimmick for her. she's a worthy winner and if her stars align at universe, she could have the support of three different country's behind her.

I really hope it does improve. I'm always rooting for that. Yes, I love Noelia! Such a hard worker, very deserving and a great rep for Miss Universe this year!

Miss USA was a great experience… I was surprised with New York didn’t make it to top 20… I like swimsuit competition and Minnesota evening gown and Oklahoma is my personal fav. Hawaii was serving but Utah is just growing from the start to the end .she ate the microphone during question n answer.. i think District of Columbia should join again..her body is amazing and she prettier in person… I’m looking forward next year again and I agree…the location was a little uncomfortable…. But our new queen miss USA will definitely be kicking asses in El Salvador l no doubt , definitely she will make it to semifinals and probably too 5…
