Amy, Alex and Lucy were good friends to me so I couldn't say anything to make the situation even worse... Amy hurted Lucy so much that they weren't friends anymore... After her birthday party she drunk alot and said to another classmate that she's straight just faking the whole sexuality thing and did it on purpose... Some of the clique vibes does come from trying to avoid intrusion by group that want equal footing, represented even to the point of your erasure. It's irritating to be in a subculture that's pressured to be all-inclusive. No other subset of folks are expected to do this. I mean, imagine you're in a Cuban American group, wanting to celebrate Cuban culture party & some North Koreans crash n demand it be a Communist culture party, not Cuban, so it's inclusive for them, and then three Costa Ricans come in demanding it be a party for Spanish speakers, and then some Icelandic people say it should be about people from islands. And why should you have a problem with any of these? You have something in common with all these groups, but you've been blocked from actually celebrating your own culture & expecting people coming into your space to respect the space is about celebrating Cuban culture... Funk that.

Also it’s a weird conflation/assumption with being dominant or submissive which is… like they’re just positions. Who’s “dominant” is going to change in a moment/mood unless you’re doing a BDSM scene, which even then is pre-agreed on I think it’s all imbedded from this implication/assumption with dominance being masculine (the man, in control,superior) and submissive being the woman. Therefore the submissive “bottom” is inherently inferior. Which is also gross.

I am not the target demographic for your channel, I'm a cis male, I came out a little over 26 years ago now, which means I don't watch your channel for the same reasons as many of your subscribers do. I watch it because you're entertaining. That's it. Well, I also watch to have my faith in humanity restored a little bit. You tend to express yourself in a kind way, and you give consistently good relationship advice. As a "relationship geek", I appreciate that very much, and that helps me feel a little less despondent about the world in general, knowing that you are putting good stuff out there. The reason I'm commenting here is the way that you & Mak discussed the term "Simp". Loved it. I can't tell you how much I appreciated your take on it. I watch/follow some people on TikTok, but I never post content there. Not my thing, don't want the attention. I watch/follow some people here on KZbin as well. My point is, I do comment, I do share my thoughts (rarely) and feelings (often) about things that people put out there into the electronic world that we inhabit. I am habitually positive, kind, and I try to be very specific when I give compliments. I want the person to know, yes, I watched your content. Yes, I understood at least part of what you were doing. Yes, I know something about what I'm saying in this comment, so, please know that I am not giving this compliment as fluff... I mean it. I have been called a "Simp". I thought it was wonderful. Weird, I know. What generated the attempt at an insult was that I was being supportive, kind, and respectful of another human being with no expectation of anything in return. If that's what being a "Simp" is, then I will wear that mantle with pride. Yes, I know what people are trying to get across, but it's that last statement of my third paragraph that is so crucial, and why so many people (I'm not generalizing here, okay, maybe a little... okay, yes, straight men *cough*) come across so poorly. "... with no expectation of anything in return." That's a big part of the definition of "Creepy". That's what people are trying to say when they call you a "Simp", I think... that you are being "too" nice and/or obsequious in order to garner favor with someone, to get their (positive) attention. The internet is a big place. There are a lot of people online. There are a lot of people who make content, and even more people who comment on that content. If I'm seeking attention, I'm doing a really, really bad job of it by choosing this as a venue. If I wanted attention I would be posting my own content. Anyway, that was too long. I'm wordy. Sorry. Love your content. You are fun, I love your way with words, I love your shirts, and I am grateful that you are putting out solid, constructive, intelligent advice regarding sexuality, gender issues, and relationships in general. Thank you very, very much.

I hate the social stigma around being a bottom/sub lesbian. I am no less a lesbian because I want a woman to dominate me. The key part of that sentence is "woman." Some people just have preferred positions and headspaces in bed, and it's stupid to make people feel like EVERYONE has to be vers. Lying about being versatile or a top when you're actually a bottom, or vice versa, is how you end up in incompatible sexual relationships where only one or neither of you are having a good time.
@squirrel65362 жыл бұрын
And then there are people like me. She claimed to be vers, and I was like "great, that's fair, I can do that, I can totally do that!" and then... she never wanted to top, and I quickly learned that I did not enjoy topping. I could probably be physically "on top" but like... with orders and praise, you know? Don't put me in charge, it's not sexy for me. I need that "bottom energy" headspace to have a good time. And like, you live and you learn, right? Now I know what I like and what I don't like, and theoretically can communicate that with a partner and not be lowkey pressured into sexual positions I don't like, but the SHAME around being seen as a "pillow princess" can still make it really hard to admit your own desires to a new partner.

Girl, I feel the same kind of anxiety, but as An Old Lady who assumed for decades that she was bi/'an ally' who has mostly dated men (though I have had relationships with women) & is a single mom. Lesbian spaces have always intimidated me, and I'm hoping I can finally get up the courage to visit 'known lesbian spaces' & meet other lesbians before I'm too old, haha. (Of course, I don't finally admit I'm a lesbian until I move to a tiny town from a large city with a thriving queer & lesbian community. 🤦🏻♀️)

I've never visited places that are "specifically" for lesbian/sapphic... So I couldn't tell^^ But one day I want to explore these clubs etc. ...^^ I'm a lesbian btw(;

@@jennaozzy6863 I’m sorry, it’s just a lot of lesbians I know have had that pressure and are getting some crazy messages. I’ve dated trans people (men and women) myself and had good experiences, but the camaraderie seems to be disappearing.

You should host a talk show! Alayna, I have loved and followed you for many years and honestly you have grown so much it is incredible to watch. I think you navigate conversations about the lgbt community so well and always find the balance between informing people and making room for personal stories. And I am thinking that you would be a great talkshow host. Love from the Netherlands

Thank you so much for diving deeper into the whole top/bottom topic! It makes me roll my eyes so often when people think someone who's dressing more masc is automatically a top & someone who's dressing more feminine is automatically a bottom. Besides the fact that hardly anyone really ONLY fits into one of the two, I can tell you that all of my masc exes were either bottoms or verse. I'm a low femme representing verse who enjoys giving and receiving equally (and knows how to do it) & I can't take 95% of tiktok le$beans seriously when all they do is reproduce stereotypes that don't help anyone.

Frankly as a straight guy I found this video really enjoyable as all the advice should apply to any relationship. Communication is absolutely key, switching roles in the bedroom is also important, nobody should try to control the relationship (unless the partner particularly likes that). I love giving pleasure to my partners, I actually prefer to make sure my partner has a great time before even seeking my own gratification, as giving someone pleasure is a joy and a thrill in itself. So go for it ladies, enjoy yourselves and build loving strong and happy relationships. I’m not saying that asking for something that you want is wrong but in a good relationship you must give as well. Humour is also important (when shared and not being mean) as sex should be fun and enjoyable. I think the terms top and bottom are wrong as switching is definitely more fulfilling. Sorry if my being straight and male offends any of you or your followers, I have many queer, lesbian, gay friends and watching this kind of video helps me understand them better so I can be a better friend.

It's like we all secretly have that sexist voice in our mind that can get involved in how we see things or people. And i believe that's why femininity is thought of as such a weakness, in every part of society; even in lgbtq community. You guessed it right, i'm a feminist lesbian and i hate it when people put masculinity and power in the same box as if those two always go together. Amazing content... Thank you for bringing that up.👍

People hating on the bottoms in gay relationships actually goes all the way back to Ancient Rome! In Ancient Rome being gay was acceptable but only if you were the top. They thought that being a top meant you were more masculine which made it more okay. That view still affects gay culture to this day.

So I’m an old gay…I enjoyed this conversation so much. The patriarchy hold on what women should be, made masculinity/dominance in women something to be disgusted with and as a top it was like one in 50 women. Even now the numbers remain with there being a plethora of bottoms vs tops. TikTok is horrible in this area as well. Go into a live with a masc vs a femme and watch the difference. :P Anyway, it is getting better. People are finding themselves more freely and I hope things remain safe for discovery so people know their worth and can be their authentic selves and have the realization that no one is worth more than another unless we are deciding who gets the last piece of cheesecake.

The point that caught my attention the most is that here in Brazil lesbians don't discuss this much, it's not an issue, we don't have much of a question of who is going to be on top or on the bottom, the two of them do whatever they want. It is a question much more of gay men than of lesbians.
