Thanks for this! You are very appreciated. I know and see some are taken back by the extreme simplicity.... We say, "WOW! I want my hair to flourish like yours! What did you do?" You kindly share what you do, and then comes the passive aggressive madness/comments!!! If you want something different, be open and willing to try something different!

Let me tell you how god works! I really needed to see this. The last three years I have been confused as to why my hair has hit a stand still. When I first went natural all the products I used I made. I washed with ACV, did bentonite clay mask since I have extremely low porosity corse coily hair, and and used butters oils and aloe Vera gel. My hair was also always twisted. Fast forward to adulting and working full time, I now use commercial products and my hair is no longer fee retaining length and seems so dry. This reminded me of what I used to do and to get back to it. I can’t wait to start this journey back to basics, not sure if I’ll hit knee length and 5’10 though lol.

Thank you for this follow up. When I use the word "shampoo" I didn't mean to imply suds and lather, I was inquiring about cleansing dirt, sweat and debris which accumulates in our hair too, not just product buildup. You appear to have healthy hair and you answered my questions. Gratitude and continued success!

The only thing I'm mad about watching this video is that I hadn't seen it 10 years ago when I first did the big chop! I've cut my hair so many times since then where my hair has still never flourished. I know in my heart of hearts that the only way my hair retains length is with twists in. But I've been reluctant to commit to such a simplistic routine . But you have inspired me again because my hair is similar to yours in that is very coily 4B and it breaks very easily. Thank you so much for existing!

Thank you! Love the info! Question... 1) when u take your regular showers and you are not cleansing your hair, then, do you put a shower cap on as to not to get your twist wet? 2)Do you have to apply more flax seed gel to the ends afterwards (that shower)? 3) How do you make your flax seed gel... do you add anything to it? 4)You previously answered me saying you oil (castor) your hair every week... does that mean you spray the aloe (big squirts all over).. put large amount of the oil in your hands and rub it on a bunch of braids at a time and then reflax those ends? 4) Do you ever put the oil on your scalp? When I tell you, I have my 3 products ready!! Now, just waiting for you to teach me how you make your flax seed gel.🤗. I wear my hair in twist most of the time anyway, so not doing all those steps (trained to do for so many years 😡)is really gonna make me & my family very very happy! Again, I can't thank you enough for sharing, caring, & teaching❤💝. Looking forward to you responding, and your next video, of course🤗

I loooved what aloe vera juice did to my hair but I had to stop using it cause I'm allergic. Ugh. And it's so funny how you mentioned castor oil vs olive oil. I have high porosity hair too and recently switched to castor oil from olive and I love it! Wish I tried it sooner. I'm a little confused about how so many people are confused abt your routine. Maybe they think there's more involved than there is, like they don't believe natural hair care can be so simple.

gigglyfitzgirl people don’t believe it’s that simple. So far having nature hair hasn’t been simple or easy. Just detangling for me is more than a notion for me. My hair tangles and mats so easily. The right technique can help. She has hair like mine and she admits it not easy especially if you take your hair down and shampoo and condition your entire head. She doesn’t do that. She has a technique. She fingers detangles. Is learning a better approach and technique.

I use that brand of aloe Vera juice as well 🤔 yes I guess that does make a lot of sense if you don’t use products there’s nothing to wash off of your hair strands and all is really left is to do is to take care of scalp . I totally get it. I was like a sponge 🧽 in this video absorbing all info! Thank you for sharing 💕🎥👍🏾💐

Okay, so I heard you say that you don't wash your hair in the traditional sense of hair washing. You mentioned scalp washing with apple cider vinegar when you felt it necessary. In considering how that may or may not work for me, Ive been thinking about a number of things: like my hair being exposed to environmental pollutants on a weekly basis. I live in Baltimore, not a rural area. Spring is here and summer is fast approaching. So, in a way like never before I am feeling aware of the fact that my hair is routinely being exposed to smog and such. Not to mention pollen now that rhe warmer minths are upon us. I'm wondering how I can keep my "healthfully" (is that even a word) clean without washing it the traditional way. I can see the head wraps really being a helpful resource with regard to this...Another thing is that I feel like the less I disturb my hair, the hardier it will grow. So, I can see the pros of not taking all of the twists out and washing my hair that way because traditiinal washing of hair brings about tangling and tangling requires detanglung; hence some hair breakage will occure....I'm also now realizing why you just puechase aloe juice instead of making it yourself. I would have to prep fresh aloe juice each week. While its easy to prepare, apparently it's only good for a week...(Sigh)...Things to consider.

@IndigenousStrandz11

yup! something lighter will absorb at the right pace since your strands absorb moisture slowly heavier products will sit on your hair for high porosity hair the cuticles are lifted so if you need something the will give your hair continuous moisture things that absorb slowly does the trick.. lets say your a light weight drinker, one small drink you faded, but if you were an alcoholic one drink aint gonna do noooothing u need something stiffer and heavier to do anything... lol....... its late im going to sleep yall lol

I have low porosity hair too, and I though my hair didn't like it. But today when my hair was feeling dried out, I did an experiment. I got my water bottle and mixed aloe into the water at roughly a 1:4 ratio. 1 part aloe to 4 parts water. I sprayed it on till my hair was slightly damp, squeezed it in. Put on a plastic conditioning cap for 10-15 minutes as I put on makeup and got dressed, and it worked! Twists were super hydrated, soft, with nice little curls at the ends. This doesn't happen when I use plain water. So it seems my hair likes it diluted. Yay! Also I already had a little castor oil on my hair prior to moisturizing it.

this is beautiful and an awesome regimen and reminds me of the days when I first went natural. what I want to get is inbetween your 2 months mark for wash day you mentioned you use aloe Vera on your scalp to remove build up. how do you rinse that out? if I understand you well from a couple of your videos you don't drench your hair a lot in water. so how do you take out the build up. I have watched your scalp treatment with fresh aloe vera leave and I didn't hear you say you rinse off, does that mean you leave it in your hair? it's a fresh plant without preservative, won't it degrade on your scalp? bottom line is how often do you cleanse your scalp with aloe vera juice and how do you rinse it out if you don't get in the shower. thanks. your response will be highly appreciated. you are cute by the way.

I get that you don't have product buildup, but what about cleansing everyday dirt, sweat and sebum from your scalp? If I go to the gym (or even do the weekly cleaning of my house), my scalp gets sweaty. The oil you put in your hair will attract dirt and dust just from walking around in the world. Are you saying you let that sit on your hair and scalp for months at a time?

She wears her twists in an updo at all times (it's only dwn for the sake of the videos), as well as scarves (which I do too; I hardly ever have my hair out in the elements, nor do I work out so no worries on the sweaty scalp) both acting as a barrier for her scalp. Not every body works the same. You may sweat at the drop of a hat, but she may not.

I'm curious, since you keep your hair in twists all the time, have you considered just allowing your hair to naturally loc instead of having to constantly re-do your twists? I know a lot of ladies don't want locs because they like trying various different styles on their loose hair, so I was wondering if you had a specific reason or if you just don't like locs. Your twists look very similar to the locs I used to have. I loved them, but begrudgingly cut them off because I was getting breakage and losing locs due to illness, medication, and stress. They were so low maintenance and I retained every inch of length until my health issues kicked in. I look forward to hearing your thoughts!

AWWW Im very sorry to hear that, I hope you are doing better now, I did think about it since i grew up with a parent having very long loc, but Its a big commitment to me and commitment to one single thing and changing my mind is one of my biggest fear in life.... that goes for everything except the commitment of being a mother, I love to be able to wear my hair out although rare, and seeing how much my loose natural hair grows. I love locs and i have been debating it since i was 18, I dont think ill do it, or maybe i will when im older and dont ant to deal with all the hair ill probably have

@Kindred04 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for responding. I am better now (very kind of you to inquire). I completely understand about not wanting to make such a commitment. I'm actually at the stage now of trying to decide if I want to loc again or continue on with my loose hair. I have to admit though as much as I love my fro, every wash day I find myself saying I'm going to loc again because I get tired of all the detangling and the inevitable breakage that comes with loose kinky hair. I started my first set in my 20s, cut them in my 30s, and I'm now in my 40s. So it feels like a good time to start a new loc journey. I've also been thinking of starting a new set in tribute to my dad who recently passed away.

@Tee-xg4jf
@Tee-xg4jf 3 жыл бұрын
If you’re still using the dryer that you sit under...be sure your hair is saturated with water when applying the conditioner and then spray the cal with water inside as well before sitting under the dryer. This will help the deep conditioning process take better. If your hair is kinda damn with conditioner and slap a cap on, you won’t get great results for conditioning and will eventually continue to not give good results in hair moisture for growth if that makes sense.

Nope I have grown my hair out perfectly without "soap" which is a misconception that it cleanses when it actually strips, the bubble u see is a chemical reaction... I keep my scalp clean without needing shampoo with no issues, it takes me about 7 hours if I'm retwisting all at once

@@IndigenousStrandz11 Wow you replied...and so quickly, thank you! Personally, I use a lot of styling products in my hair but tend to wear it braided or twisted also. And yes, I shampoo. And my hair is about 12" long and it takes me 3 hours to twist it, so that is very impressive !!

@@IndigenousStrandz11 Most definitely! I've tried co-washing and my hair just didn't feel as clean after a couple weeks, so I went back to my shampoos. But again, product buildup. But, your hair is beautiful

I use to get alot of build up on my scalp. I was using too much product. I don do that anymore, and i don't struggle with that anymore. Also, i started washing it every week. I was doing every two weeks. I also, use sulphur 8 shampoo. It really helps it because i still get white stuff on my scalp, but its much better now. It really helps.

I would love to do this with my daughters but since they do swimming I’m scared that if I don’t wash it every time they swim it will break off.

Do you use whole leaf or inner fillet aloe juice?

She uses Fruit of the Earth from Walmart. I believe they only sell one kind. It says "100% inner gel fillet. Naturally grown, cold processed aloe. Full strength, no sugars, starches, or thickeners. 1 gallon". It cost about $7.

doThatGWalk Shoot I understand that. But what she has said is no secret. Sticking to a routine moisturizing your hair and leaving it alone = hair retention. There's no secret here. Now will the women and men clamoring for this knowledge (that is not new) follow it. That's the key.
