I can still remember the goosebumps I got as a kid watching Tom Cruise scream at Jean Reno with rage. That is still my favorite part of the scene. I never knew trains went that fast in Europe, so this scene blew me away as a kid

Actually is very fake. TGV trains are allowed to run only in high speed lines. Also TGV is electric and there is no catenary in the movie.

In some ways CGI and digital compositing doesn't seem to have improved that much in the last twenty years or so. How good it is now mainly comes down to how much time and money is invested in it. You're absolutely right - if that's not enough, it can still look atrocious. There was obviously a lot of investment here. It does look incredibly good for 1996, and holds up very well now.

This is correct. He got decapitated 37 times in the rehearsals. Luckily he never gave up and got it right in the end.

Eh? Why would it take so long to get a close-up of a perfectly safe prop being slowly rotated a few inches from an actor? You do know that he didn't actually use a real, sharp helicopter blade but a prop moved by production crew off camera...? Either you're talking out your backside or someone in a behind the scenes was making things up.

One of the best choreographed action scene I must say. Some over smart pals will come up with lot of mistakes here probably but considering the year of its release it's still one of the best. 😮😎👍🏻

I miss the days when you didn’t see anything about a big summer film, until the trailer. They kept the project under tight wraps, and before the internet, that was possible. Than that trailer hit, and everyone was stoked.

I doubt it. Kittridge was more of a pain for Ethan. He is ‘by the book’ but to a fault in many ways. In the end I think Kittridge will be secretly helping Ethan and his team out while pretending to be in his way on the surface.

Kreiger trying to kill Ethan with the helicopter blade always creeps me out, especially with that gleeful smile of his. 3:59 Always love how Ethan looks back and was like 'I'm still alive? That was close!'

There were several times in this scene where Ethan was screwed and Krieger ironically saved his life a couple of them. If Krieger doesn't do the quick thinking to fly the attached chopper into the tunnel, then it crashes and explodes outside the tunnel with the debris probably killing both Ethan and Jim in the process. Then if Krieger just slows the chopper down instead of trying to kill Ethan with the blades, there's no way Ethan would have been able to jump onto the chopper and he'd instead be stuck on a speeding train hanging on for dear life while Jim and Krieger get away.

Even though this is obviously so over the top, the way it's been shot looks so much more "grounded" and realistic compared to everything shown in the latest one. I wish we would have gotten more movies like the first MI. MI3 comes close though.

The Channel Tunnel is only 1 bore per direction, so 1 x 1 track tunnel to france and vice versa. For safety reasons the 2 tunnels are separated with only a very few crossovers and a walking safety / mantenance access tunnel

A question please. Can´t they just walk normally on the roof of the train? The inertia of their bodies is the same as the speed of the train. It is like when you walk inside an airplane to walk to the bathroom. So except the disturbance of the wind, they should walk normally on the roof.

Thats the older TGV which is jet turbine instead of electric, they replace the jet verson of it for electric verson due to oil crisis, in real life, the Aerostar does this route from London to Paris.
