Mission MoonSwatch - A Buyers Guide

By no means a review, just a lighthearted first impressions and some buying advice if you're hoping to pick up a MonnSwatch. I will do a full review when I get hands on with my very own Mission to the Moon or Mercury.

I bought mine here in Vancouver Canada (I’m a Brit living in BC, Canada) and played the ‘hopeful tourist who’s travelled 5,000 miles in the hopes of picking up a MoonSwatch, ploy’ in order to convince the Swatch shop to give me one. It worked too .. got me a Jupiter.

Let me give my little bit of advice based on personal experience. I bought one here in Istanbul and I'm not impressed. It seriously is a plastic piece of shayte (read in Irish accent. Lol). Anyway it really is extremely bad. I did sell it to a mate who wanted one, I sold at the retail price and I'm glad given what happened later. What happened later? The top pusher fell off while he was wandering around the city, and it's gone. I gave him the receipt so hopefully he will get some warranty repair or replacement. Other problem, the strap started fraying within a week of him getting it from me, and secondly and I'm not kidding here, a plastic button on his shirt cuff scratched the cheap polymer crystal that seems to be what you would find on a children's ToysRus watch. Btw, the quartz movement is an extremely cheap unrepairable Ronda. Now, Chinese copies have come on the market here, for about $50, and while definitely not even matching the bad quality of the Moonswatch, the one I saw was actually not far off the mark and what was quite funny, the fake one, being sold on the street by a Nigerian man, had a seconds hand that hit all the markers, unlike the original which didn't hit more than half of them. If you want to spend £200 on a watch that you want to wear, get yourself a nice Seiko or an Orient quartz chronograph. Stainless Steel, 3 year warranty, recognized brand. You can even find a Pulsar solar powered Chronograph for less than the price of this trash that should have stayed in the ceramic toilets and waste chip shop oil recycling bins.

A great concise comment that viewers should find helpful, yes they are cheap plastic and susceptible to damage, I think my Moonswatch will be a novelty I keep in the box, if and when I get one

I have been collecting watches for 16 years, now i have more than 20 Seiko automatic watches in my permanent collection and love them a lot, i have automatic Orient, Citizen, Bulova watches. I have Swiss and Russian mechanical watches all are permanent in my collection. And also i have two Moonswatches, planning to add 3-4 more, i like them. I like them the way they are. If i bought them because they are trendy, popular and fashionable, i would not like them. I think these watches need contentedness and and ripeness to appreciate them, all people i see who enjoy them are this kind of people, they are all in the know of what this watch is and who they are. If you are not like this, i don't recommend you to buy this watch, it is crap ;)

Those who failed to get one were the lucky ones who dodged a bullet. I have a buyer's guide for whoever is the least bit interested in the Fauxmega Moonswatch, a real 316L steel watch with a sapphire crystal and Seiko MechaQuartz VK63 movement for less than half the price of the Moonswatch. It's called the Pagani Design PD-1701.

i bought the homage pagani design 1701 v3 with seiko vk36 movement, stainless steel and sapphire crystal for 70 usd shipped. its a near copy of omega speedmaster. beautiful watch.

Great to see all the details you pointed out, especially that year 2021 print… That’s crazy! I like the idea of collecting all 11 but can’t imagine spending the total amount for that many of this watch. Great to hear your viewpoint, which seem to go against other claims of poor craftsmanship.

I think you have to except the fact that these are plastic watches that have their limitations, I wouldn’t put them in the Toolwatch category. I’d like to have a couple in my collection, not sure I’d wear them carefree. I think buying the lot at retail also gets you half way to the real McCoy but they are fun pieces

I would most likely buy this as a daily driver for a more low profile alternative to my G-shock's which I commonly always wear. But, despite the price point, it does not seem to be fit for that job. Therefore, while I do like this watch alot, I will again resort to adding a G-shock to my collection.

If swatch had enough stock when they released they would have made a killing, far more than what they have made to date. Now the only way to make good sales is to limit stock in store with small deliveries. I don't think they will sell online for many months until they recoup their initial investment via the in store method. Now maybe long term this is the best strategy for the company profits but they have alienated a lot of customers in doing so. Only time will tell. (No pun intended).

People want what they can’t have, Rolex are a prime example, I think you may be on to something, when sales slow down at the store then make them available to the masses online

They do look nice, but the subpar strap and crystal, the disposable nature of them, the bs about not selling them online and the multiple reports of pre-scratched crystals and pushers that fall off turned me from a lover to a hater. I think they are tremendously overpriced at retail. I bought a copy on Ali for a tiny fraction of the price.

@@LastWatch I bought a Mission to the Moon Moonswatch copy on Ali - cost me just under $7.00 US delivered. Runs great and no scratches on the crystal! That is what they are worth to me. It is a very cute toy watch, I have it on display and have worn it a few times. Very hard to argue with the price I paid :)

Cool man. I like them they're ok and I think it would get noobs interested. Now I would have all the colours apart from the pink one. I would have a hard choice to just pick? but I think the red one is probably my favourit9le and having one for work and things like that,if you've only got one and not collecting. You can tell the Mrs "I gotcha that Pink Speedy ya always wanted "

The amount of promo text on all aspects of this watch from strap to dial makes Invicta's branding look restrained. Detracts from these watches in my opinion ... just too much.

The general feeling with these though is that copies are fair game at this build quality. It's frankly insulting to make watches this shite. Whether the hype bumps them or not.
