Lost a friend and his family to him deciding to fly down a river ravine straight into a cable. Orange balls and all he just didn't see it according to witnesses. Always scope out any run like that. Great advice.

Student pilot here working on commercial fixed wing and really interested in bush flying in Canada. I thoroughly enjoy your channel for obvious reasons. The little snippets of technical knowledge e.g. in this one, balancing fuel flow, power setting and torque are great, please keep those up - a bit of a rarity on youtube and really appreciated. Thanks for all the hard work on your edits too - you do a great job putting these together.

A wonderful video as usual Ryan. The 360 camera does a great job of outside views with that superb coastal scenery! Loved this episode as I do with all of them. This one reminded me of some 1997 CPL cross country flights around 6000ft mountains and valleys of New Zealand's remote South Island West Coast area. Many gorges and valley flying at minimal altitudes when navigating with analogue paper maps and keeping position with your finger, looking for ridge wires and turning ability before flying into blind valleys, where the ground climb rate will ALWAYS exceed the climb rate of your airplane! Always plan a minimum safe altitude! 😎

Hi Ryan, I love your channel. One remark: altitude is safety in case the motor or something else gets crummy. Lovely valleys indeed, but risky at that altitude in the remote backyard of PNG. Always safe flight! Mitch

"Honda Civic of the Sky" looks like the right name for the R66 when it gets loaded up, but it gets the job done efficiently and reliably. I enjoy seeing the West New Britain area. Do you carry a spare electric fuel pump for the drum? Great video, Ryan. Thanks.

Incredible what is possible to load in this tiny little Heli 😳. Wonderful video and like sightseeing. I'll be today in WAJJ Sentani Indonesia after our very long trip from Alaksa. The next weekend to Goroka or Moresby with my Thranda C206 Stationair. I am so looking forward to fly in PNG and explore the areas you fly there, Ryan. Hope the Cessna 206 will be able to do also the higher airstrips. sometimes I'm a little bit sad about only simming. God bless you Ryan

Ryan, I have enjoyed your content for a long time. I am not a pilot but I have learned so much from watching what you do. I will never be in a situation to sub for a real pilot but believe that in that situation, I might be able to land the aircraft. LOL, I at least would feel that I could make the attempt without giving up.

Great video Ryan! Context and load planning was perfect. Liked the ‘quick’ weight and balance (we don’t want to do those boring numbers in detail - just your insights). Asleep / waking-up controllers was very ‘island time’ amusing. Navigating PNG / mountains and your risk management approach vs other locations - super good. Video a little long overall. Could trim fat from 19:00 to 26:00 while keeping critical / interesting. Loved the speed up from 30:40 with orchestral overlay and meme cut - different for you but really worked. As nice as they are, still undecided on the sped up return flights - we miss all the interesting detail, tend to tune out with the music - different mindset from rest of video. Music in the “bridge” i.e. sped up 30:40 section, back to short cuts of aviation nerd detail on home flights might work. Suggestions for your consideration. Thx heaps for the great content!

they really should get a EC145, can't beat the payload and volume it has over the R66 sure it's a twin turbine, burn more fuel and cost more but no need for another plane with fuel and supply

An EC 145 costs $5,000,000. They can buy two new kodiaks for that cost. For this operation they are R66 is perfect.

@@helibob2367 the BK117, the older version of the EC145, is found at around 1M$US, slightly less payload and being used but still a capable machine. there is one BK in autralia 1.2M 8000hr on the frame seems to have 1900hr left on engines(seems to). even then there is a sea knight for sale but it need love(this one I think was in heavydspark video few month ago). I don't know if there Kodiak are bought or lease
