@matthewhorizon60505 жыл бұрын
Oh, so you're going to be the "dont compare these guys" voice on this comment section. Be a little more original next time. Interact an idea as to why they should not be compared. Personally, I've always thought KWS was nothing more than another SRV clone that was never able to find his voice. Joe sounded like shit here, but when he's warmed up and phrasing well hes a fuckin monster. Kenny is a b leaguer, which is why he hasnt headlined a huge venue. Is he a solid guitarist? Absolutely. And you know what the biggest shame is? He always had the talent and aptitude, but he failed to become adventurous in his playing. Theres thousands of players that sound very similar to him. He has no trademark. Noe is he the type of guitarist where you can't here 3 to 4 notes and know that's him. Hes a snoozer. Sure, it's all subjective, but you deserved some pushback for telling everyone what to do lol.
@matthewhorizon60505 жыл бұрын
@@lewellyncrunkmeyer1512 So, you're saying that the quality of a random 10-yr-old who created a sculpture for art class is on the same level as one of Michelangelo's pieces? Obviously, the criteria used to critique art and compare it is based on visual appeal and an appreciation of the artists technique, at least to some degree. Granted, this is an extreme comparison, but a clear demonstration that some art is better or more appealing than other examples of art. If logic dictates such a differential exists, which I think I just proved, theres an enormous spectrum of instances where various art can be compared, analyzed and concluded that one piece of art is better than another piece (w/in the same genre and medium of course). I've played guitar for over 35 yrs and can state with confidence that I am much better now than when I was 11-yrs-old. But ultimately, you're correct; technically, art cannot be compared. Frankly, I find this fact to be pretentious, tired and unrealistic. Nevertheless, I'm found with the cold hard truth that I must agree with you for the reason already stated. However, I still think that some people have shitty taste in music. For example, 80s punk is some dismal shit. I may not like death metal, but at least they're competent musicians that are accomplishing something worth while. I dont care if you agree or disagree, but that are of punk did not emphasize talent, high-level technique or the implementation of the brilliancy constructed in a beautiful or impressive melody. When we arrive at Kenny and Joe, we have what most contemporary blues fans would concider two great blues guitarists. I can agree with that, but I stand by my reasoning in my first response. Even Joe has been criticized for lackong originality, but no one denies his level of technique. But when comparing, Joe has a versatility that Kenny simply does not possess. Although you may like his music, it does not mean he is a great artist; for the same reason punk is not great. Dont get me wrong, Kenny is 900 times the musician as any punk guitarist; hence, my overall point. But in terms of an overall killer solo though, Joe blows the doors off Kenny in about every aspect of playing possible. And if you dont think Joe can slow it down and phrase beautifully, listen to his shows with Beth Hart. JOE IS A BETTER GUITARIST AND ARTIST THAN KENNY. Convince me otherwise or just shoot me a link. PS: I do think you're right (I'm playing devils advocate), but the rule of not judging requires a comparison of giants in their respective realms of creativity, such as Eric Gales and Joe Bonamassa. Kenny doesnt inhabit this world of "top of the food chain" blues guitarists.
@alexrushrocks51505 жыл бұрын
@Matthew Horizon I wasn’t telling anyone what to do but I am telling you to chill. My point was stop saying one is better than the other when they are incomparable. It’s ok to prefer one over the other but don’t say one is better than the other...... and how does Bonamassa playing bigger venues have anything to do with what I was talking about? My guess is both of them are pretty content with what there doing right now.

These guys are both modern day titans. There’s no comparing the two. They’re both great. I will say though the power and strength Kenny has in his hands is godly.
