12:14 Pm. This is a fun quilt I enjoy all the videos you do. I'm disabled and don't get out very much so I sew baby quilts and donate them. In the last 4 years my grand girls have come and all they want to do is sew which makes me happy when you consider all the peer pressure there is in this world today for teens to do. Keep doing what you are doing. I'm carrying on a family tradition I would sew under wear and clothes with my grandma my dad went to Canadian school and they needed to learn to crochet, darn and knit he taught us those things in the winter when he was laid off

Thanks so much, love this. My nanna is trapped in a nursing home with cream walls everywhere and what saddens me most is that depression has been diagnosed. With 8 weeks to Christmas, and I am cutting 5 inch strips and squares and tomorrow afternoon this quilt top will be made. If I could hug you I would because I feel the tears in my eyes knowing my quilt might be the thing that inspires her to have faith in her new home.

This was the first video I watched when trying to learn how to quilt. I can definitively say that Missouri Star Quilt Co has not only taught me how to quilt and inspired me but also made me more confidant as a quilter and less intimidated by different designs. When I come across pattern I'm unfamiliar with I check to see if you've made a video about it before I even read the pattern. The sky is the limit! Or I feel that way because of videos like this. I became hooked on Missouri Star after this video and have made two jelly roll quilts now then I went over to the website and discovered your daily deals much to my husband's dismay lol You guys are great, thank you for everything that you do!

Loved this one too, Jenny! A hint for your viewers: Yes, you do end up with a huge pile of strips to the side of your chair with any Jelly Roll Race. Trying to keep them on the table as you go makes it too easy to sew things together in ways that will just need to be ripped out. Solution? Keep an empty laundry basket beside you to catch your roll as you sew. I clip the end to the side of the basket once I'm a couple of strips along to make it easier to find when I'm ready to start the next round. Additional Benefits? If you have to stop for any reason, you can get up quickly without tangling your feet, PLUS you have a way to set your work aside, safe from kids & dogs, if not cats. ;-) Another JRR version? It may have been said already, and it does take a little more cutting/sewing, but try cutting your strips in half width-wise before joining them. You get more variety & a scrappier looking quilt. It's also easier to really MAKE it a scrappier quilt by swapping around jelly roll half-strips! As Jenny has said before, fabric designers tend to stay in the same colorways. Swap around different half-strips from different Kate Spain collections, or within any of your favorite designers' collections. Talk to your quilting guild and other quilter friends; before you know it you'll have LOTS of half-strips for LOTS of JRR quilts. To cut them, don't bother unfolding them, just grab one and cut off the little pressed fold. As you cut, put each half of the cut strip(s) down in a seperate pile so you're more or less in the original order (getting a few mixed up & out of precise order is no big deal. Just consider it a design variation & keep going!) You can cut the selvages at the same time. NOTE: if you cut several strips at a time remember that you still need to separate each cut strip. A Benefit from halving your strips is that you don't waste that 18" at the start: you have twice as many diagonal joins or 2.5" squares, so their ALL OVER! And a Benefit from halving them as I suggested is that you don't have to worry about pressing out those annoying folds. So grab a Jelly Roll or two & get Racing!

I have a great Jelly Roll Race variation idea! After sewing a regular Jelly Roll Race flimsy, cut it into bias strips as wide as your original strips were. The Continuous Bias Method which many quilters use for their binding strips is really appropriate here! Now you make a new Jelly Roll Race (bias edition) from those new bias strips. The colors and shapes are just scintillating! This quilt is so great for those of us who prefer angles to squares, and smaller pieces better than large swaths of color.

This is my favorite tutorial! I love that it goes together so fast but that it also uses the extra little blocks to catch the eye throughout the quilt. This is one of many tutorials that lets me put together a quilt top in just a few hours!

I really enjoy your tutorials. They are easy to follow. I wish I had sent you this sooner. Back in 2012 my quilt group had a jelly roll race, and one of the quilters didn't like her fabrics, so she cut 2 1/2" squares and added them to each strip. It changed her fabrics and changed the jelly roll race. I wish I had sent this to you then. It's amazing how quilters think and create, and you do it so well.

I really enjoyed this tutorial as it gave me the knowledge and confidence to make my first, jelly roll quilt. Just love Jenny's teaching technique, it's fun learning. Jelly Rolls are one of my favourite ways to quit. I have even used the technique to make shoulder bags Thanks Jenny and Missouri Star Quilt Company for giving me the confidence to work outside my comfort zone.

I love this quilt. It is so easy and it's such a surprise when it's done because you never know how it will look til it's done. I made one with a jelly roll from MSQC and my granddaughter and I made one by cutting strips out of my stash. It came out so bright and cheery. With all her favorite colors.

I did 3 quilts with the 1st jelly roll race & loved how quick it was, so when I saw this I had to try it. Difference is I picked out 5 solid colors that were in the jelly roll & stacked them (1.2.3.4.5) to the side and added one at a time. I had no idea where the colors would show up on the quilt. Wow was I surprised at the end. When I opened it up at the end I had 4 different color groupings and one side that had that one color all along the side. I think this is a great pattern & will use it again.
