The character of Sheldon was considered to be asexual for a long time by his peers but, as has been pointed out below, he married Amy. Many would say that his love for Amy is based a hell of a lot more on their intellectual compatibility and admiration than on any other qualities. Upon discovering I would have to refer you back to the comments I made in my initial response. The show seemed to suggest that most of his friends believed him to be asexual, i.e. that he had no interest in sex at all. His relationship with Amy is one which grew over the show and which probably seems very different from what most people think of as a 'normal' relationship but Sheldon was never supposed to be a 'normal' person. You might decide you find the premise unsound or unbelievable and that is your choice but I think the show paints a clear picture of how this part of his life developed and, given he is prone to saying exactly what he is thinking much of the time, there is no reason for the audience to think he wouldn't just come right out with it if he was gay.

Sheldon's dad didn't measure up to his youth's future idea of adulthood. An unplanned pregnancy, a dead end job, the sacrifices required of adulthood for his family derailed that fantasy. Now he works hard to provide for his family. He doesn't understand his kids, he tries to teach his kids, but he always loves them success or failure. His marriage flounders, he makes mistakes, he dies before he can mend the pain he causes. Isn't he every adult that tries, fails, and tries again and again. I know how it ends, but I still cheer on the average Joe who doesn't dissert his responsibilities, loves his kids, and tries, in spite of obstacles, to be there.

@D Sullivan Still for someone with Sheldon's love for rules, breaking this serious chess rule is just wrong... Alas, the intricacies of chess are at times ignored when using it to signify a mental battle... The idea behind it, is to prevent mistakes while punching the clock. When in a hurry, using both hands might result in one hand punching before the other finishes the move. By using the same hand, that can't happen!
@vibovitold3 жыл бұрын
true. it reminds me how i once played in a rapid chess tournament, and i was beating my opponent (a big old bearded guy). at some point i promoted to a queen, and i reached for the queen from another chessboard (where the game was over). the guy immediately pointed out that this time i used my left hand moving the queen from the other board to ours (obviously, this counts as part of the move), and called the arbiter. he tried to intimidate me with that (i was a kid back then), and proposed a draw :) this was rather ridiculous, given the size of the violation, and how his position was utterly lost. and even if the arbiter accepted that i was at fault, the penalty would be something like giving extra time to my opponent, which wouldn't make any difference whatsoever in this situation. but anyhow the arbiter comes over, listens to the complaint and the only thing he says: "...and you, sir, didn't stop the clock when calling me". (and that was right, he should have). the guy resigned :)

Hard to imagine Dad on the roof skeet shooting Mom's Franklin Mint Commemorative China, but it was a hilarious visual.

The number of ways Sheldon could have been a millionaire is staggering. And honestly, the fact he never thought to make sure his family was well off is probably one of the most selfish things he could have ever done.

At the end of the day he was still a kid. Your perspective of reality is always skewed at that age, especially because of his naivete.

He thought he discovered the concept of empathy in Season 11 out of 12, in TBBT. He didn't realise that his friends simply tolerated his selfish behaviours, until the last episode of the show, in its 3rd from the last scene, where his wife had to point in out to him.

There was no law regulating fees for tax preparation in 1986; those restrictions were not added until 2011.

Lmao sheldon trash talking at the end

What makes it even funnier is that he doesn't even realize he's "trash talking", he genuinely means it when he says that he wants to have that same tax guy.

Can really relate this young Sheldon with the grown up one. Can't even imagine that this amazing kid would turn into that!

The funny thing is, apparently actual IRS audits are exceptionally dull/not at all a battle of wits. It's purely a matter of do you have the documentation for the return you filed. If not, you might owe more money. If so, well, nothing really happens, other than a large time drain for you. My dad does taxes for a living (and yeah, accepts payments that aren't simply model trains, but actual currency). He's obviously licensed, and his big thing is essentially that he'll do your taxes for the same cost as other tax preparation services, but because he's an attorney, he can actually represent you in court if things go sideways. So instead of having to find an attorney to help after being threatened by an IRS audit, well, my dad automatically has you covered. As he says, he can represent you all the way to the Supreme Court, at least in theory (though realistically there's likely no actual tax issue that's gonna go all the way to the Supreme Court)

Yup that's the IRS for you not even Joker wants to mess with them but Man did Sheldon get him good with how it's an economic lesson and reward not a payment

What I love about this series is that we saw in big bang theory what sheldon described and said about his young life it was either bad and weird in his eyes, but never got to see what he describes it. Only to discover it wasn't that different from what we consider to be be somewhat a normal family and that HE was the one being different. Look at his dad, he's just a struggling coach who's just doing what he can do for his family and shows that he is a caring and wise father, where as his mother has had a bit of a control freak issue and used her religion far more personal then ever. I have to wonder what will happen later ok when we see George die and how it impacted the family then what big bang already showed.

There's no way in Hell that a father buying his son a model train for doing his taxes is in violation of federal law. That's like saying paying his son to mow the lawn is in violation of child labor law.

I think it's because as a kid, there's not a lot of emotional things expected of him, but as an adult, there are. So if he messes up, it's ok because he's a kid, and sometimes as a kid, people won't tell you messed up. They will fix it.
