We visited Cape Leveque back in 2019 and were expected to pay $15 to drive through each and every community along the road. Beaches were fenced off and you had to pay to have the privilege of visiting them on top of the exorbitant camping fees which only had basic facilities. We left very disappointed as well.

I found getting underwater (saltwater), cleared my sinuses. I don't swim but found a couple of places where I felt safe with the supervisor nearby. I loved beaches in the north west of WA but was ever so cautious compared to the supervisor. I enjoy your adventures, my biggest regret is that I didn't do something like this in my younger years. We had adventures but nowhere as exciting as yours. To do this with kids is another thing. My two are on adventures of their own and I am pleased that they can enjoy sailing, swimming and whatever they choose. Because I never learned to swim, I believe this held me back somewhat. Mind you, I did attempt to learn but had trouble coordinating one end of my body to the other, I knew the basics but for some reason, my back would bend or I'd forget to kick my legs and move my arms at the same time. I have no trouble on my back, attempting the backstroke is ok at times. In our Kombi camper days, I used to carry a hand drill (this was before battery drills), a pop-rivet gun and pop-rivets plus a few bolts and nuts and some screws to re-fix the ply furniture that shook loose on the corrugated roads of the outback of Aus. We liked the Kimberley and Broome to Kununurra area in springtime. Memories. Hope you get the 4x4 clean. I have a suggestion - get it filthy dirty then have a spray-painter clear coat it! That'd preserve and save you cleaning it. Cheers..

We were happy to pay and get all the correct permits but they were making it so hard and were so unhelpful we just pressed on and went to the NT via the Gibb.
