omg yes the part where at school i'm just like alright i'm going to do this this this at home but then never get it done because i'm just so tired and procrastinating. i'm in corona year so y12 went like this, i'm so stressed about what shit grades i'm going to get because it's not in my hands anymore. I didn't do well at all in any of the topic tests or mocks throughout the year (D's, E's, U's and some A's in english lang which is the only thing i'm alright at. I got all A's in GCSE) so idek what shit evidence they're going to use to grade me because i'm the type that ends up pulling grades out of the bag in the end and i think a lot of people can relate. I'm just going to leave year 12 grades because i hope they're independent of y-13 and let's just hope they're not as bad as i think and hopefully i won't have to do any resits.

It’s so true with the work experience thing. I was so scared about my grades being shit but st the end of the day for me to even get to uni you NEED work experience, no matter what it is you NEED to know what your getting yourself into, there’s a difference between picking a course blinded and assuming your gonna like it or picking a course based on work experiences and realising it ain’t for you and choosing something else more suited. Work experience is also very useful for personal statements because it’s what personalises your application when applying for the courses and thag influences if you get in or not also. It’s okay to take the time and skip a couple days of sixth form to go to open days, to do work experiences etc. It will be worth it

great video as usual! any tips for picking between college and sixth form? xxx
@Rxx_035 жыл бұрын
One big factor for me was that i didn’t want to be surrounded by younger students so i decided to go to college as its more mature and independent. If you can cope with freedom and make sure you structure your independence well then you will succeed in college xx

Honestly apply for both then decide on results day - you’ll know from your GCSEs how good you are at being independent and the kind of workload you’re ready for

I was doing epq and I dropped it even though I was at the end of finishing, especially because of my subjects I realised I had no time to keep making changes and to constantly have meetings with my teacher, I got anxiety over the thought of me doing a presentation to present my work, during the presentation you also get asked questions about your project to prove how much research you’ve done, baring in mind you have to make up the question yourself, it would be easier to write it up if you done subject that are essay based. My teacher underestimated the amount of work epq is and so the way she put it and presented it to us in year 12 was as if it’s just some easy project something to get an easy half an alevel from but so much time and effort has to be put into into it as wel as the presentation at the end, yes epq is beneficial to have but if it doesn’t link to a career you want to do unis wont consider it as much as you think they would. My tips would be to do as much research as possible like you have to know your project inside and out, to have meetings with your teacher as much as you can and to ask others who have done epq previously on ways to manage your time effectively etc. It’s also very important to not just rush the production log because if you don’t do it properly it’s time wasted where you have to review your research and project effectively. I wish you the best of luck but remember it’s not for everyone, it’s very rewarding though, also there’s no point doing it if your not gonna get at least a B out of it because unis only consider it “good” if you get a grade B and above. Hope this gave you some insight, this is also based on my experience, my experience wasn’t as good because of The teacher in charge of the EPQ she’s absolutely shit at her job but is in charge of extra curricular/super curricular things x

Morgan N Yeah i wanted to do it as now in year 12 it will be good since I’m not doing any essay subjects and I want to get into medicine. I’m doing it on black women and how they’re more likely to die from pregnancy complications. I really am interested in the topic as I’m v passionate about discrimination. We have a meeting with the teacher every two weeks and I’m currently doing the production log, and there’s a a* example of a production log that I use to help me with mine. I am kinda worried about the grade though as my school is a all girls selective school and the girls are v intelligent, and a lot complain as they don’t get the grades since everyone’s is a/a* quality, but the school only gives out some a* and some As when a lot more deserve better but the standard is so high. So I’m not sure about wanting to do it as I feel I will put a lot of time and effort and then not get the grade I want (would like a A). So far I’m doing fine and not struggling so I think I can handle the workload since I have a lot of frees too. The workload and time management doesn’t worry me but getting a b will not be worth putting on my personal statement so I’m kinda stressed about that. My tutor is helpful and I’m not worried about presenting as I’m not too shy xx
