It’s been a month since I re painted these doors and it was SO worth it! They’re holding up fantastic!! I definitely recommend doing it right the first time, and am glad I took the time to fix my mistakes.

If you don’t want to use sand paper, I used LIQUID SANDPAPER when I re painted them and they are holding up fantastic after a year now.

Hi. Don't forget to paint the top & bottom of the doors. This will stop bugs burrowing in & reduces water damage causing the doors to swell. Plus it's easier to dust the top if its painted.

A 9 inch roller would have been faster too. I’ve also heard adding water to the paint helps with it drying too fast to allow you more time.

I tried a regular roller but it left marks. This one was specifically for cabinets and doors.

You should be using acrylic enamel paint for doors and trim for durability, not regular wall paint. They should not be this easy to scratch off, even one day later.

Yes, I know this was not done correctly. That’s why I re painted them. They have held up very well over the past year with no scratches or dings at all.

So why was the black paint peeling off? I’ve never had a problem with white paint peeling. Is the black different?

The black paint was just an interior satin finish. I didn’t sand or prime the door before painting so it didn’t properly “stick” to the white. After I re did them correctly (sanded first) the paint stayed on perfectly. Even now, there isn’t a single ding or scratch

Just started my project. I have 5 sets of bifold doors to do, one set of french track doors and 3 room doors. I already noticed on my first set of bifolds that the SW tinted primer is easily scratched off so I haven't proceeded. Looking for a solution. I was told sanding, but my doors are faux wood looking and have textured wood grain, will it still work? All of my paint is Sherwin Williams (first time using it...not really impressed so far) Tinted primer, paint Iron Ore.

Try liquid sandpaper. I used that when I re painted them and it’s held up fantastic.

The plastic door needed a primer, like Zinzer 1, 2, 3 first. Then your top paint would have adhered properly. You are a go getter!

I have just painted my doors black but some colour has gone on the white architraves. How do I get off?

If you didn’t wipe it off immediately you may need to just re paint them.

SO much better!!! My daughter moved out last weekend and was worried about bumping the doors. Not one scratch or ding! Also my roomba goes down that hallway and hits all 4 doors every morning at 10:40 am - so far not a single ding or scratch. :)

Sadly, no. Not the first time. Once the paint started peeling I did them again the right way. I also have a video about that process.
