Finally I understood what is the pegs. Thanks!

That's great to hear. Glad I could help. I plan to share all the tips I come across. There's a lot of features in opentoonz and most of them aren't obvious.

That's very nice! I'm really enjoying your videos! Tell me, are you using or planning to use the new Opentoonz version? Sorry about my English, please. Thanks bro!

The version I'm using is OTX from just a few weeks ago. I've heard there's been a few problems with the very latest version, so I'm waiting for those to be ironed out before I start using it. I've got most of the new features in otx though, so I'm happy ☺️

Hello. Thanks for the tutorial. However in the end I didnt quite understand which is more preferable and less time consuming. The pegbars or the columns?
@DarrenTAnims Жыл бұрын
Absolutely it's the columns that I recommend using. I never use the pegbars. The fact that the pegbars aren't visible on the timeline/xsheet, and so the animation keys aren't as visible makes them so much less useful

Thanks for this! One thing I don't quiet get. Peg 2 is overruling Peg 1? So each new peg connected to each other overrules each other, am I getting this right?
@DarrenTAnims4 жыл бұрын
Hi. No, the pegs don't overrule each other, they compliment each other. I try to make each peg do one thing, so one peg will be vibrating, while another controls movement. But if you do have pegs changes the same value, so if one peg moves the X +100 pixels and the next peg adds +50 pixels, then the attached column moves +150 pixels. I hope that makes sense.
@amaurydecocqueau45144 жыл бұрын
@@DarrenTAnims thanks for the quick reply! It makes sense but I still have a doubt: it's not overruling as you say, but how come that when adding the second peg with the big jump, the vibration on the cars is not shown anymore in the animation, while it is still present in the first peg? That's why I was thinking the pegboard overruled each other, meaning that when adding something to peg2, whatever is in peg1 doesn't show anymore.
@DarrenTAnims4 жыл бұрын
I think that it just appears to not be shown because of the large movement and because it's moving in the same direction (up & down N/S). The values are all combined. If you looked at the values, you'd see the change.

please tell me sir, which software you used for recording these on screen videos???

I use OBS for recording these videos and also for my weekly livestreams. It's a very versatile software.

Very nice video... thanks. I just don’t get why you don’t animate the car column itself. Sounds way easier to me.
@DarrenTAnims4 жыл бұрын
For a simple movement it would be, but I did it this way, in this tutorial, to show how you can combine different types of movements FOR a single column, by adding them to multiple columns, so they can be edited independently. Also, by doing it this way, you can make use of the recurring movement option (the arrow button after the last key on the xsheet) to make one type of movement repeat while adding additional movements, that don't repeat, on another column. It's just another alternative way of working. Like many things in OT, there are many different ways to accomplish the same thing.
@drendelous6 жыл бұрын
could you make an example where the pegs will work better than column method and vice versa?
@DarrenTAnims6 жыл бұрын
Hi Logan. That's a good question. I guess that pegs work better when you don't want or need to see the keys on the timeline/xsheet. You can just add them in the schematic and animate with them without having any extra columns/layers, so it'll keep the timeline/xsheet clearer. It can get busy very quickly, so if you can reduce the numbers of columns/layers, that can be useful. It all depends if you want to see the animation keys or not.

Wait opentoonz can use pegs too, I gotta try this!!!!!
@DarrenTAnims4 жыл бұрын
It certainly can. They don't offer anything more than a column and in fact, they offer fewer benefits. The main benefit that I use them for, is so they don't show on the xsheet.
@cointossofficial47754 жыл бұрын
I was creating a empty column as a parent from the objects I wanted to affect instead of using pegs.
@DarrenTAnims4 жыл бұрын
You can do either. But if you use a column, then the animation keys are shown on the xsheet. If you don't need to see the keys on the xsheet, then pegs are the way to go.
