Sorry for your loss. Remember you will see him again in the West. Bilbo's Last Song Day is ended, dim my eyes, but journey long before me lies. Farewell, friends! I hear the call. The ship's beside the stony wall. Foam is white and waves are grey; beyond the sunset leads my way. Foam is salt, the wind is free; I hear the rising of the Sea. Farewell, friends! The sails are set, the wind is east, the moorings fret. Shadows long before me lie, beneath the ever-bending sky, but islands lie behind the Sun that I shall raise ere all is done; lands there are to west of West, where night is quiet and sleep is rest. Guided by the Lonely Star, beyond the utmost harbour-bar, I'll find the havens fair and free, and beaches of the Starlit Sea. Ship, my ship! I seek the West, and fields and mountains ever blest. Farewell to Middle-earth at last. I see the Star above my mast!

Well that's likely cuz the movie only did those two. If they went through the entire thing, it wouldn't be exactly accurate of a cover. If they wrote their own version, like what the aforementioned band did, then I believe people that covered that version would cover the entire thing (MALINDA is just built genetically different).
@khodexus4963
@khodexus4963 3 жыл бұрын
@@realBlueMoonMusic On the contrary, I think it would be more accurate to cover the entire song, whether you count the published verses that made it into the book, or the additional verses that Clamavi de Profundis covered from Tolkein's unpublished notes, either would be more accurate. If a contemporary artist wrote a 6 minute song, and only a minute and 20 seconds of it was licensed for a movie, you wouldn't call it a "more accurate" cover if someone only sang those 80 seconds.

Okay...what? Wait... Oh. Wow. This performance is just beautiful. It is, once again, not quite what you'd expect, but it works on a number of levels. The female voice brings forward the story-telling dimension, and adds an aura of faerie mystery to the melody. It calls a timeless longing into the present moment. Thank you for this, Malinda. And yes, I'd really love to hear you do the rest of the tunes from LotR: Aragorn's song, the Lament for Gandalf, even Pippin's "Edge of Night." It's an odd genre to explore, but if anyone could do something really new and fascinating with it, it would be Malinda.

Tolkien was heavily inspired by Norse myths. The dragon sitting on its hoard comes from beowulf, and the names of all 13 Dwarfs plus Gandalf come from the Edda. Also, the way Gandalf is described is also a disguise Odin often used.

That was the most beautiful version of this song I've ever heard. So peaceful. This song was one of my favourites among Tolkien's collection. You really took this to another level. 💜

I know this is a Dwarvish song, but it sounds better in Malinda’s Elvish style here. Awesome job, as always!

Upon more listening, I just realized, this is what it would sound like, when the elves would attempt to sing the dwarves song. It totally fits the movie. And it sounds like you're in it. (The Hobbit, that is, because this is from The Hobbit)

Hello! Malinda I'm sure you get a lot of sweet, long messages (and you deserve them!) But I thought that might be a lil tedious at times so I'll keep it short: Everyone says how your voice is amazing, it is, but what's more than a match for it is your high spirits! It makes me smile watching you sing.😊❤

Beautifully done❤. I've always been a member of the school of "less is more," so I very much enjoy watching and listening to your music. It's very soothing, at least for one such as I, who has experienced the world in its less wonderful, more savage aspect. I do know that it is "A Wonderful World," as Louis Armstrong sang, but so much of my life has been not-quite-so-wonderful. So you keep on making these beautiful songs, and I will keep listening.❤ ❤❤

It is all about IT. The music industry is littered with singers that are pitch perfect. What separates the real ones from the wanna be's is the emotion that you can express in your voice and take listeners on a musical journey. You got this Girl. You have IT.

I would pay for her collection of her singing videos if she ever sold one. She has a remarkable voice and I honestly would support her by buying her DVD of all her music. She is amazing and hands down the prettiest siren of them all.

Damn, that chromatic embellishment at 1:02 was absolutely fire. Really fitting in this style, your harmonic minor embellishments really pull from ancient Aegean music where mermaid myths originally come from. Wow. Also the pedal tone contrasted by your incredibly clear and vibrant vocal tone, this was insane. Great job!

Omg I love listening to this genre at night when I go to sleep … I never really thought about it being a thing. I didn’t know how to even describe it to really find more. I just let my pandora play on Alexa. Then I stumble across this and I’m in awe ! Sometimes I wish I lived during those time periods. But yeah this music is SO beautiful calming and relaxing … when I close my eyes I let go of all the stress and I’m taken to a magical and peaceful place. I love it!
