Sorry for your loss. Remember you will see him again in the West. Bilbo's Last Song Day is ended, dim my eyes, but journey long before me lies. Farewell, friends! I hear the call. The ship's beside the stony wall. Foam is white and waves are grey; beyond the sunset leads my way. Foam is salt, the wind is free; I hear the rising of the Sea. Farewell, friends! The sails are set, the wind is east, the moorings fret. Shadows long before me lie, beneath the ever-bending sky, but islands lie behind the Sun that I shall raise ere all is done; lands there are to west of West, where night is quiet and sleep is rest. Guided by the Lonely Star, beyond the utmost harbour-bar, I'll find the havens fair and free, and beaches of the Starlit Sea. Ship, my ship! I seek the West, and fields and mountains ever blest. Farewell to Middle-earth at last. I see the Star above my mast!

@realBlueMoonMusic3 жыл бұрын
Well that's likely cuz the movie only did those two. If they went through the entire thing, it wouldn't be exactly accurate of a cover. If they wrote their own version, like what the aforementioned band did, then I believe people that covered that version would cover the entire thing (MALINDA is just built genetically different).
@khodexus49633 жыл бұрын
@@realBlueMoonMusic On the contrary, I think it would be more accurate to cover the entire song, whether you count the published verses that made it into the book, or the additional verses that Clamavi de Profundis covered from Tolkein's unpublished notes, either would be more accurate. If a contemporary artist wrote a 6 minute song, and only a minute and 20 seconds of it was licensed for a movie, you wouldn't call it a "more accurate" cover if someone only sang those 80 seconds.

Okay...what? Wait... Oh. Wow. This performance is just beautiful. It is, once again, not quite what you'd expect, but it works on a number of levels. The female voice brings forward the story-telling dimension, and adds an aura of faerie mystery to the melody. It calls a timeless longing into the present moment. Thank you for this, Malinda. And yes, I'd really love to hear you do the rest of the tunes from LotR: Aragorn's song, the Lament for Gandalf, even Pippin's "Edge of Night." Omg I love listening to this genre at night when I go to sleep … I never really thought about it being a thing. I didn’t know how to even describe it to really find more. I just let my pandora play on Alexa. Then I stumble across this and I’m in awe ! Sometimes I wish I lived during those time periods. But yeah this music is SO beautiful calming and relaxing … when I close my eyes I let go of all the stress and I’m taken to a magical and peaceful place. I love it!
