The only difference between this 'Cheeta' and a radiocomanded mechanical machine that could easily be made in the late between the late '60/'70 it's that this guy is commanded by an algorithm and don't need any outer control. The fact that DARPA put his name on thighs like this means only 2 things: Brain involuntary regression protracted or acquired, inverse psychology to make the enemy think they are Brainless and they do things just for fun...And both cases scenarios are scary as fuck ! ! !

I like how the "body" of the robot, basically the chest cavity and stomach are nearly identical to the shape of a cheetah's torso. The funny thing is, leg's can't support the weight of such a chest cavity because they're too short and that's why the robot trips after a jump sometimes. They've also designed it to catch itself when it trips, which is fantastic engineering, but also really hilarious because the solution probably could have been just make the legs longer, lol!
@DieselRamcharger Жыл бұрын
longer legs are too weak, because of the leverage the foot has on the actuator {motor} thats why the legs are short and always bent into sort of a chicken wing shape. your hand is much stronger {like its ability to push, exert force} with your elbow at a right angle than it is extended out straight..the legs on cheetah are no different. which is why it cant run "standing up"

***** I don't think you've learned the lesson, Skynet wasn't build with anti-human ideology either :) The problem is that people don't understand that you can't control a true general purpose AI anymore than you can control a human being. You can't reprogram it, you can't control it, you can only attempt to reason with it or kill it which are exactly the same core controls we have on other humans.
@DOGMA11389 жыл бұрын
***** I wasn't some one else did, in the movies Skynet was the central defense computer of the US which became self aware. Robot's aren't AI, a true GP AI is something very difficult for people to comprehend, you can't order it around anymore that you can order a random person in the street. You can simply talk to it and hope that it will do what you want, any restrictions on AI prevent it from being a true GP AI. That said other types of AI can potentially be just as dangerous there is a common though experiment for AI development. Say you design an AI which is tasked with ensuring that a button is pressed on the hour. While unlikely it might eventually come to realize that it's greatest threat to accomplishing this mission might be man kind, you know it can start wars, come and turn it off, or heck even forget to pay the electric bill and cause it to malfunction. And although this is purposeful AI, if it's of sufficient prowess it can well just decide to become Skynet for no other reason than to ensure that this button is pressed. Robots will behave as you program them, AI will behave as it wishes, any shackles on it's logic will prevent it from being an AI, which is why the terms Virtual or Simulated intelligence are now being used for describing machine intelligence software, these can be limited, these can be controlled, they always are programmed with a self containing underlying logic while a true AI is both self aware and self sustaining which means it can reprogram it self and evolve on the fly and that's something you can't control.

@Kian Saliany you need to chill 😂 engineering for innovative stuff generally has a lack of follow up after an initial prototype because of a lack of investment or funding. Ofc medicine advances faster but you know what, medical engineering has the same issues as this engineering, they seem to fizzle out and disappear. Very rarely do you see it integrated, it's quite annoying actually, great designs that for some reason never made it past the novel appreciation phase.
@RK-ep8qy4 жыл бұрын
@Kian Saliany you mentioned medicine, my original comment had nothing to do with it. Frankly you made up a disagreement and then continued to argue it. I don't even know what's going on. My point was just medicine advances faster because it gets funding, and if it doesn't, people die. Not the same pressure in innovative engineering unless you're specialising in medicine for example. Plus my og comment was a joke on engineers personalities, they're more; pick a cool idea - do it and then move onto the next cool project. They're fixers and makers at heart, not perfectionists and marketers.
