Trying to film this while having COVID-19 resulted in me having to do MULTIPLE takes due to coughing every 2 mins. 😫. Stay SAFE out there everyone. Let me know down below if this is a LENS you'd be interested in!

@@zyoptics9946 Thanks again guys!! Also I think one of my viewers found a solution to the APSC crop mode. Image zoom allows you to still use this lens in 4K mode and scales in on the frame 2x, so a little image quality is lost but you're still able to film in the 4k modes.

To note: Going into apsc crop on any other full frame Sony (besides the A7SIII and FX3) will allow you to maintain 4K. The A7S3 and FX3 cannot maintain the 4K in crop mode because they only have 12 megapixels. But great review!!

Thanks for the info! I had wanted to test out their Canon RF mount as I’m more used to using Canon/RED over Sony. But that’s great to know, makes sense on why the A7S iii won’t support it in 4K for APSC mode. That’s good that other full frame Sony’s allow you to stay in 4K. This was my only main issue with the lens so finding out it has a workaround (digital zoom to stay in 4K) AND you can stay in APSC/4K on other full frame versions of Sony makes this a go to cinema lens!

@@JoeMooreProductions yes - seems like a great lens on a budget. Thanks for the review!!

In regards to your problem with the lens can't you just use clear image zoom? This way you can maintain 4k aquisition with better codecs and their frame rates?
@JoeMooreProductions3 жыл бұрын
Wow that was a feature I wasn't familiar with when it came to the Sony line. I'm going to have to test that out, and if that solves the problem than obviously this is a perfect cinema lens for the price. Thanks for the info I'll let you know how it goes!

@@JoeMooreProductions you’ll lose a tiny bit of resolution with the clear image zoom (as it is basically digital zoom) but it does a great job

You most definitelky can shoot aps-c/super 35 mode on a sony a73 and still shoot in 4k. Not sure what issues you're running into there...? Lens looks solid though! Thanks for the review Joe!
@JoeMooreProductions3 жыл бұрын
In order for me to switch into APSC you had to either go into XAVC-SI HD or XAVC HD option. It didn’t allow you the option to film in any 4K mode. So unless the 2x zoom option works that someone else mentioned, you can shoot in crop mode on the a7s iii in 4K mode unless I’m missing something. Would love to hear how you’re doing it, because this lens was incredible besides that one problem.

@@JoeMooreProductions well I'm referring to the sony a73 and not the new s version so I can't 100% confirm but what we do on the a73 is go into thr settings a set a custom button for apsc mode (we use C1 on top of the camera). Then all we have to do is click the button and whether we are shooting 4k or 1080, it simply crops the area of sensor we are using/seeing used. I don't know if this works on the a7siii, but I'm definitely curious to know whether they crippled it a bit in that regard.

thanks for the review. how do you think these compare to slr magic or meike cine lenses? thanks
@JoeMooreProductions3 жыл бұрын
Haven’t had a chance to try those lenses out. But the more higher end expensive cinema lenses ive used on the RED, this lens mount was a great version for a DSLR like the Sony

Nice! In which stop the lens start producing chromatic aberration? and whats the general look that gives you? clean and sharp or more vintage soft look?
@JoeMooreProductions3 жыл бұрын
I took it down to the 1.0 & didn’t notice any CA. The general look is that you’d expect with a cinema lens. I would say a vintage soft look with a little extra sharpness. The images I recorded of the flowers really showed off the more vintage soft look.

I wonder if this lens would be perfect for my Sony A6400 since it is a crop sensor??? 🤔🤔🤔

I would say this lens would be a great fit for that cam. My only negative was the crop sensor aspect, everything else about the lens was great

Y'all weird asl. Ur main issue is ure using a lens that isn't meant for a full frame sensor n complaining about it. This is why ppl should stop going full frame just for the sake of it.
