Mitakon Speedmaster 90mm F1.5 lens review | Photo and Video Real World Review on A7iii and A7siii

Today I'm going to talk about an interesting lens. A lens that I don’t think you would find from in most camera stores. We’re very fortunate to get our hands on it, let me introduce you to the Mitakon Speedmaster 90mm F1.5.
It is a very beautiful manual lens and as far as I know, it has a very similar design as the Leica 90mm Summilux which costs $13,000. Having said that, this Mitakon 90mm F1.5 cost around $649 which is a significant difference in terms of price but how about optical quality?

I can see you can get this lens in M mount then you can use techart adapter to go with it, that will turn it into an auto focus lens on Sony although not at the same focus speed as a native E mount. You can get eye auto focus.

Honestly though, who would take this over the already cheap, auto-focus Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 for just 5mm longer and f/0.3 faster? Also it's ~$50 more.🤷‍♂️

I must agree that the Sony 85mm F1.8 is a great value lens. Love it but I must say the outcome from this Mitakon 90mm is different from the Sont 85mm. From a practical standpoint, Sony 85mm is a clearer winner but from an aesthetic point of view, you can consider this Mitakon 90mm😉

@@PlaybyPause You mean "character". Yes, that would make sense to have it even if you got a better 85mm lens.

@@Bo_Hazem i watched peter coulsons newest youtube yesterday . He talked about this topic. He said he has many lenses the same focal length but they are all different. He says he buys lenses for the look not perfection. You should watch his video its great

@@andersistbesser Thanks a lot! It reminds me of other who prefer to keep the Batis 85mm with the Sony 85mm (all f/1.8) for just subtle differences. I personally would do it if is a vintage-looking lens like the Voigtlander lens or even a very old lens. Speaking of that it's what I believe the series "Peaky Blinders" are using, vintage lenses. I'll go watch it, thanks again.

@@Bo_Hazem ja vintage look is great mr coulson said he likes the 7artisans 50mm because it gives him the 90s look he likes so much even tough the lense is so cheap.
