@@gadvait2010 So what Mitch is saying is that if he doesn't do well, the management will make him clean the club. That makes us think that he's gonna work extra hard make everyone laugh. Instead, he says they were good because they were "neat" which means he didn't have to clean up as much. In other words, he's pretty much saying, in his own self deprecating way, that the crowd was not going to laugh either way so because they were neat, it made his job easier to clean up after them. They crowd was good because they were neat...not because they laughed more, which is what we would expect him to say. It was really a subtle way to give his joke a little extra kick at the end 😁

George Carlin was a good example of that. Went from doper humour with a touch of absurdity (good example is his "what time is it" routine); to the firebrand we all knew and loved in his later years. Mitch would've been similar I guess.

He was funny, sure, but I wouldn't go so far as to say he was the best. I mean, his best buddy, Doug Stanhope is better. He kills it. But it's true that a lot of comedians really liked Mitch Hedberg. I guess it's a personal preference thing. I'm not a huge fan of one-liners. That said, he's one of the best at that format. Jimmy Carr is another guy that's in the same vein, just a little bit edgier.
