Is ALWAYS welcomed and sincerely appreciated. However, it is definitely lacking compared to taking the class for real. You miss other things like tests, mid terms and finals... All are a Pain in the ass, however it accounts for a significant amount of the information a student will aquire, as the average student will spend 2-3 times the amount of time studying for Mid-terms and Finals, than the average study period. Which accounts for about 1/3 of the information learned in the class. Also, we don't have the benefit of the assigned Texts or Syllabus (if he assigns one.. though there's probably not much reading for this class).

Appreciate the interaction between the students and the professor in order to set up his slide. This is something that seems to be common place in US higher education. It keeps the course lively. Here in the EU, many maintain the idea of writing down what you see on a presentation, and having work on slides -> memorize and dig in if you have time. It works but interaction is lacking. Notice how he asks for the first name? These are tiny details that make a difference when you are in the audience. I've been taught by both systems.

A year after viewing this course and the FTC, SVB and Credit Suisse failures, I have retained the following. 1. A distributed accounting ledger is created that does not require a central responsible owner. 2. An system of creating an increasing but limited number of tokens allows users to agree on value through a market, so it can be used as money, a store of value and a medium of exchange. 3. Combining these two allows the creation of competing systems that may have the promise of lower transaction costs and perhaps less government control than other forms of tender. 3. In it's infancy, significant challenges remain. I term these infancy risk, promise risk and unknowns risk.

One thing. @29:00 you start talking about tx throughput capacity. Originally Bitcoin didn't have a limit. It's why Satoshi said "it never reaches full capacity, so there is no need for it to "scale"". Then a bug happened, and the block-size limit was imposed. At one time it appeared to serve a positive function, but since 2015 it's been a hindrance, as the hardware capabilities of both individuals, and the internet as a whole have vastly improved since 2010 when the limit was first introduced. If the miners were ever wise enough to hard-fork Bitcoin into a version that doesn't have a block-size limit, the transaction throughput capacity would become your bandwidth capacity, tx fees would fall through the floor, and it would be profitable for far more people to mine.
@Cappuchettey132 жыл бұрын
I think you don't get that increasing block size harm the decentralization of the protocol because less and less people can run a node as a result of more Hard drive disk space required so the network as a whole become more fragile and prone to attack and censorship

Nothing surprises me. After all the United States government allowed some jackass to come to United States and pretend to be me when in fact they came to my door and talk to me they know damn well that guy's not me.

Thank you Prof. Gary Gensle for saying something quiet important. I am born in Germany, but my Family is from Poland and i am living in Poland since 2013, so i am interested in the history between Poland and Germany since i was a kid. Most poeple say Turing encrypted Enigma, but as you said, the Poles did it and thats important to know, at least for the Poles. Thank you very much for saying that!

I love the fact that I know more about crypto/blockchain than M.I.T. students and professors and I never went to college , I took it upon myself to learn about it on my own without paying someone to teach me. I also love the fact that they are now teaching it and people are as eager now as I was to learn about it.

He’s there for the big money control. What could possibly make you think otherwise. He was in Clinton’s admin, Obama’s, and now Biden. Wake up

@@eyesopen9477 That’s how I see it. Additionally, I don’t see being an exec at Goldman Sachs as a plus for the masses who I believe benefit from [his] permissionless blockchain system. He also mentions speed requirements for the financial system needing to be at least 30,000 transactions/second and BitCoin only allowing for seven (7) transactions/second. XRP is 1500 transactions/second and twice the speed of VISA transactions. I hope he recognizes these important factors. I don’t have my hopes up as his credentials lead me to believe he is more of an Establishment crony than a compatriot. I hope I am proven wrong AND/OR XRP beats him getting confirmed as SEC Chair. I do think this is the case unless he can pull off a magical feat on behalf of the Establishment in the next few months.

Wow it took you guys way longer than I thought it would to get some decent Bitcoin content. That being said I'm glad that you did. Perhaps get some more forward-looking thinkers involved at MIT.
