you have the patience of a saint. my god, the work involved in this engine refit has been huge. I have watched them all with interest as I own a V6 petrol 2005 - 6G72. I have a leaky rocker cover that will need doing soon. Even the prospect of getting to the covers terrifies me.

Hi Dave, thank you for the comment. I think anyone can do this with the proper planning and tools, it is just a bunch of bolt, nuts and metal pieces :) a metal lego

Just to let you know my engine has the exact same leaky air sound on the left by the power steering. Sounds like a vacuum leak but I checked everything and couldn’t find any issue. Let me know if yours turned out to be something but I think it’s just normal.

Hey sir ! Can you tell me what you ended up to do for the tensioner ? Is it only putting tension while the engine is running so you were fine or you did something ? Thanks !

yes, the tensioner once is released I keeps the tension on the belt while is running, there is no more to it

So you didn't had to do anything to it while replacing the seal ?
@thegarageetc2 жыл бұрын
yes I had to push it back and put the pin back again otherwise you will not be able to take the tension out, thankfully I saved the old pin but you can use a small drill bit to do it

I just did this to my 2000 Montero sport. I just fixed the leak at the rear camshaft seal above the starter. I had trouble getting the o ring so i made a gasket where the camshaft thrust plug meets the head. Works great used a cereal box.
