Hello I recived some fair critism that the video was slow and that I did not include comparision test measurements. I have measured some guage blocks and they perform about the same. I Will make a short comparision video measuring some guage blocks and put the link in this comment. Thx for watching.

you will also notice the SR44 is not SR44 but rather the cheaper LR44 battery on the Mitufauxo calipers.

hello, thank you for this information, I was wondering, what is the precision of the measurement for the fake (not the display resolution). I know the real one is 0.01mm but the fake one? THANKS ! regards

One tip off is said to be the locking thumbscrew, ive been told by some that the real caliper has the shorter thumbscrew and the chinese knockoff has the longer one. The quality difference of that plastic is obvious. (typo corrected)
@yambo594 жыл бұрын
I made a typo above, meant to say the real caliper has a shorter screw and the knockoff has the longer one...but its just something I read online no idea if its really legit or not.
@WmSrite-pi8ck2 жыл бұрын
Real one also has a captive thumbscrew. As in: it won't come out when you loosen the beam drag all the way. Or at least, mine doesn't. Maybe if you really crank on it with a pair of pliers you can get it out, but I'm not doing that to mine.
@HippieMagic3 жыл бұрын
The battery on the fake one is LR44 in a SR44 labeled package. The real one is SR44 on the battery and tag.

Look at the Serialnumber of the calipers. The fake one has a different number on the "measuring certificate" and on the caliper. The real one has the same number on the measuring certificate and on the caliper. You can see it in the video. The signature is printed cause the inspection is made automatically by robots. The written name is probably just the supervisor of the inspection department.
@JBolbach4 жыл бұрын
Did anyone notice the "good one" lacked a thumb wheel?
@pascalsalerno3 жыл бұрын
That's definitely the best method. Thanks for that. And you're also correct about the signature; title is "QC Manager", so not a technician but rather a guy overseeing a room full of robots...

@ericzeigler86693 жыл бұрын
Obvious differences not pointed out: 1.Real one didn't have inch graduations on the yellow sticker. 2. Real one's channel is milled with almost no tool marks and the end of the channel is semi-circular. Fake one's channel end's in a ramp instead of a semi-circular stop. Clue number 2 works on every fake that I've encountered.

@@extde Avoid Aliexpress if you want genuine Mitutoyos. Like what some people who have commented here, check locking screw on the top it should look like the expensive one in this video. The inch reading should be able to read up 0.0000. No tooling marks on the pocket at the back of the caliper. See this video, kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnbEq61uhayDj7c

Hi there. I purchased the same caliper on Ebay thinking it was the real thing, but was suspicious because it only costs $40.00 (1/4th the price). I don't have the real thing to compare but it certainly is a nice caliper. Mine zeros nicely and passes the light though the jaws test. I wonder if these aren't Mitutayo licensed manufactured for the Chinese market. Its a common practice.

Also notice the numbering underneath the barcode on the case label, the spacing is different. The number 4 is spaced further away from the barcode and there is a larger gap in the center of the numbers between digit number 6 and 7. My caliper matches your set that doesn't have the knock-off picture.. I also ordered from a Mitutoyo recommended dealer..

The only item that I've bought that breaks your rule of thumb about Japan vs China is the Japanese company, Spyderco. They produce some folding knives in China that are equal in quality to the Seki City, Japan made ones. I believe the Japanese control the Chinese quality inspections and have done a great job in keeping their brand on top. Always one exception to a rule.
