My Japanese traditional sushi is something I made and enjoyed with my grandma at home. Many Japanese don't make nigiri sushi at home, but this inari sushi is something we often make for dinner, snack and bento box. Inari sushi is vegan . so I hope many of you will enjoy it!!

Sadly, there aren't any places near me that offer proper sushi, just "westernized" sushi, but I had proper sushi once and remember it was amazing. I think my favourite was nigiri and vegetable/shrimp tempura. Maybe I need to learn how to make it myself. 😊

My country is known for falafel, which is little fried balls made of chickpeas and herbs that you eat in a pita bread with tahini sauce and salads. A lot of people think we make it at home but it's really a food most buy in street vendors, very few make it at home from scratch. It all looks so good Miwa, thanks for sharing! We do not have fried tofu in my country sadly, so for now all I can do is watch!

Exactly! From my experience the spoon technique is the safest yet efficient way to make inari sushi (which i'm addicted to😅) My favourite stuffing is kimchi + avocado + tiny little dot of black sesame paste, as well as an avocado strip + cucumber + chopped tomato + a bit of gochugaru🤤Really recommend those.

Hi Miwa-san…I enjoy inari sushi so much. I haven’t made this for years!! My Mom only made this at New Years…I’m actually not sure why only for our New Years dinner. We never ordered it at Japanese restaurants either. You have inspired me to start making this again. I love the idea of adding thinly sliced cucumbers and sesame seeds to the rice filling. My Mom used to add thinly sliced carrots and cooked gobo and shiitake to the rice. You can buy the aburaage here at Fujiya Japanese Market or maybe even our local T & T Asian market. Thank you for your inspiration!! Kio tsukete 😊🇨🇦

We don't have anything similar here with rice but around this time of year we have hollandse nieuwe, which is raw pickled with salt herring. You eat it with raw onions and a pickle. Inari zushi is definitely one of my favourites! Usually I only fill it with sushi vinegared rice no other fillings. The seasoning of the abura age is best on the stove but I must admit I have a microwave recipe and I usually do that since it saves me time. I have such a wooden sushi tray but I have to soak it etc and I forget so usually I take a glass bowl to make the rice. Other favourite sushi for me are tako, ika and hotate and tamago. I sometimes make inari at home but more often I make chirashi zushi, try that with a layer of tofu or chicken teriyaki between the sushi rice and top with things like cucumber, egg and edamame. These inari chopped and used as a layer would work great as well. It's also fun in a clear cup for a picknic. For an extra refreshing taste I sometimes mix pickled ginger chopped with the sushi rice. Does your eldest enjoy elementary school? It's almost time for summer vacation. We have another 21 days to go in our area until that starts.
@MiwasJapaneseCooking

Wow!!! Your version of chirashi sushi sounds amazing! I see some people add Unagi no kabayaki mixed into chirashi sushi just like how you do with teriyaki! I can't afford unagi but I can do it with tofu!!! Yes, my son enjoys his school except for the homework part of it! haha

I sometimes buy tofu wrappers at the natural foods store in Taipei, they are delicious and come in two shapes, big square pockets and smaller triangles. I would never make it myself because it looks like too much work and the store bought ones are great. I love them because I can easily whip up inarizushi with fresh or leftover rice (I re-heat it before adding vinegar).

I am so pleased you made this video. I've been trying to find out what this is since I only first had it a few weeks ago. I was fortunate enough to find a reduced box of de luxe sushi in the supermarket. I would not of paid full price (£5.99 GBP) unless it was a special treat.... This was the first time I ever saw or tasted these gorgeous little pockets. Now I must have them again! Iv been researching what they are...& trying to locate them. I've seen a video where someone had them in a can. As I will have to buy via an online Asian supermarket in the UK....what are the best ones to look out for? Many thanks 🙏🙏♥️

Oishi! We have a lot of aburage here in Hawaii but my favorite is the canned or prepackaged (non-refrigerated ) because I can store it at home for later use but I never thought about freezing it so that’s an idea too! We also stuff the aburage with seasoned somen noodles combined with sliced kamaboko, sea salad which is a green gel type crunch with some sesame seed, sesame oil and I think a bit of furikake )

Where I'm from in America, burgers are a favorite, but my husband and I tend to eat them outside of our home because we have no place for our grill. (We current live in an apartment that forbids using a grill patios and balconies.) Fried fish (particularly catfish) is also a favorite, but most people don't want to put in the effort to cook it due to either not liking the smell of it cooking or because of the hassle of dealing with all the oil required. It's hard to find good fish markets where I live that know how to provide fish for sushi. XD;;; It makes me very sad because I used to work at a sushi bar in a big city for a few years and I grew to love all sorts of sashimi and other sushi cuisine elements. It is simply hard to find the quality ingredients needed! I would try to prepare my own at home, but my freezer space is too limited at this time. My personal favorites are simple tempura shrimp rolls with a spicy mayo, or a roll with snapper sashimi and jalapenos that have been pickled in yuzu juice!

@MiwasJapaneseCooking

sushi is a general term for different kinds of sushi including Nigiri, sushi roll, inari sushi etc... most of them are combination of sour rice + raw fish^^
@AttackChao
@AttackChao 2 жыл бұрын
Sushi, in general, means anything that uses vinegared rice, and that can be used in the ways listed by Miwa-san. Sashimi (raw fish) is frequently used with the vinegared rice, which is why the misconception is fairly common in many places.
