Well done. You put a lot of work into this tutorial and there is not too much out there on Mixcraft 10. Using different colours on the grouped tracks would have helped make things a little easier to follow. Already looking forward to your next video. 😊

Easily, the most underrated DAW in the computer field. Not sure, what the reviewers are looking for. I wish my Studio One 6 Professional used the same editing functionality as my M6Pro.
@commontimeproductions9 ай бұрын
We agree! I love MX10 for remote capturing when most other daws require internet access ongoing to manage licenses. Mixcraft is also such a great tool for how to shuffle stuff around with a song when you are still in that decision process of if a verse or chorus goes here or there. Thanks so much for the wonderful comment!

i saw you put the side chain on the bass channel but, I did no t see you set up a parameter for it to control on the bass itself?
@commontimeproductions9 ай бұрын
Thanks for your question, yeah I did not use a parameter filter for the audio controller because it is being used pre-fader and is just allowing the compressor to work when the kick hits. To clarify, the compressor plugin on the bass guitar is triggered a few milliseconds early by being side-chained to the kick track. This opens up the compressor a bit early before the actual note of the bass guitar hits so that we can have the full front attack of the bass note. In this instance, none of the parameter filter options would be applicable here. Hopefully, that makes sense, I'm curious if you understand it differently or if I was unclear in the tutorial. Again, thanks so much for your question, I really appreciate the feedback :)

Great video! I don't think the use of output track for that. In my opinion, just use the send track or effects on the track. Quicker we can click the Alt key to duplicate the effects. Do projects with 48khz have to mixdown with 48khz? Because I've heard that mixdown to 44.1khz or a different sample rate will change the results.
@commontimeproductions9 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for your comment! Yeah, I wanted to show how the outbus track could be used for amps and whatnot. It is more for routing in other ways or for hooking into outboard gear etc. Love the tip on the alt key for duplicating effects, I didn't even think to check it did that even though I use that function in ProTools for other stuff. As for the 48khz, generally when recording we tend to try for the higher bitrate to preserve the most of the recording. So we learned 48khz, 24 bit is a good industry standard. Mixing down to 44.1khz, 16-bit is usually for CD quality and is still quite common as well. The difference would be negligible, but if you are worried about it using something that dithers the track down to 44.1khz 16-bit with mastering would be the best choice.

Agreed. Output bus is meant to output audio to hardware audio interface who has multiple output ports.

Very good tutorial indeed! More complicated stuff , please!!!! Mastering with Ozone etc. preparing songs for audiostocks etc. ( Inspite that Mixcraft does not unload windows RAM when VST instruments are bypassed saving your ram memory, its very simple daw for making fast projects. / Waiting for the update when renaming tracks would rename events at the same time). Now its a bit pain in the neck./

I normally use other Daws like Reaper, Harrison Mixbus or Renoise, trying new programs i like the look of the waveforms and the rounded slots from the midi editor on Mixcraft, i think the software is really great organized, intuitive and that's great. You can show us all the features of the midi editor, how to create and edit fast midi drums? I found the Omni sampler useful since it has a lot of pads that you can load but think they need another sampler to slice some drum loops like Simpler from Ableton.
@commontimeproductions4 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for your comment! Currently, I am working on a tutorial all about crafting midi drums that is going to be out soon. It will cover how to actually take drum sheet music and an easy way to translate it into the midi player so that you can use any genre of music. I see a lot of drum programs out there with some great grooves, but I realized that so many of us want other stuff like Latin beats or whatnot. So, since I am able to read drum sheet music, I figured out a way to easily input the beats into the midi editor in Mixcraft. Glad you also found Mixcraft to be intuitive. I love how it is easy to just jump in and start recording. Again, thanks for your wonderful comment!

Very detailed. I have been puzzled with the SOLO button in a track. SOLO is supposed to EXCLUSIVELY mute all other tracks as a short cut. But apparently SOLO button does not work that way. What do you think about the SOLO button?
@commontimeproductions9 ай бұрын
Great question about the Solo button! In Mixcraft 10, the solo button isolates and focuses on specific tracks by muting all others not soloed. It's great for those detailed adjustments or examining parts of your mix in isolation. Interestingly, you can also solo multiple tracks simultaneously to see how they blend. Plus, you can use CTRL click on a soloed track which will unsolo all tracks at once.

I've got Mixcraft 10 Pro Studio back in summer last year & i'm quite enjoying the new features. And in my opinion. The new features & improvements in Mixcraft 10 blows Mixcraft 9 out the window. The new GUI is much better including the light theme. Rock solid stability and flexibility. The bug fixes in new version patches thus making Mixcraft 10 more better head on & many others. Looking forward to see what the fine tolks from Acoustica has in store for us as Mixcraft 10 gets more better this year.

Why does a blue tint keep popping on the screen when I try to record a track? I'm ready to change to a different daw because of this!

Are you selecting the area in the timeline that you are recording in? The only reason I can think of for a blue tint overlay would be if the area is selected or in loop mode. Hope this helps!

Do you use other DAWS with or instead of Mixcraft? I personally haven't found a need another, which includes Protools.
@commontimeproductions8 ай бұрын
When I first started using Mixcraft, they were on version 6 back in 2014 and up until Mixcraft 9, it was the only DAW that we had been using. The last 4 years however, we started getting more mixing work that required a DAW like ProTools because of the advanced routing options and the ability to do fine adjustments for phase alignment. Also, as of this last December, I added Melodyne Studio version as well to my process. One of the great things I love about Mixcraft is that you don't need to be connected to the internet to use it. A DAW like ProTools or the plugins like Waves VST's requires the internet to operate when you first boot it up that day. This last December we recorded a full band out in the field using Mixcraft (due to no internet), and then did all of our mix prep and track cleanup in Mixcraft. Then I sent all the stems over to Melodyne for its ability to do multi-track editing at the same time (which is essential for time aligning a drummer that can't play to a metronome). After getting all the tuning and timing done in Melodyne, I then sent everything over to ProTools for the fine detail stuff like phase alignment and fun tricks like the kick compressor trick I show in the video. That whole process is actually a course that I am working out to show, because in the current tech age, it is important to know that sometimes when recording and mixing professionally it is essential that we are versed in multiple DAWS's and music software. Thanks so much for asking this question! I would love to hear how you have been using Mixcraft solely and what your experience has been? Have you found anything that you have had to find a work-around for yet? My first stumbling block was finding that I could not super zoom in on the tracks for fine detail with phase alignment.

Duplicate a left-channel (mono) recorded guitar track to two tracks, then pan one track to 50% left with compression and EQ FX, and pan the other track to 100% right with reverb FX. That can make the guitar sound full!! Interesting but may I know why?
@commontimeproductions9 ай бұрын
This was a trick we learned to add more width to the guitar from our friend Warren over at Produce Like A Pro. There is also the Dave Jerden trick for mixing big guitars where you can double the guitars on each side and then layer it with bass for a baritone guitar effect which will make the guitars even bigger in width! Thanks so much for your comment/questions!
