The new curtains must go in the library. Not only does the color work better against the dark wood, it also livens it up. Were they to be in the grand salon, they would compete with the lovely and delicate paneling which should be the star of the show.

These curtains look 100% like the .... INDONESIAN BATIK SARONGS that my elderly female relatives & my own Mother used to wear long ago. These traditional & iconic Indonesian designs & colours are still being produced to this day. Definitely NOT for the grand salon 🙅♀️ nor the Library 🙅♀️ Pretty as they are , these are unsuitable for those rooms & too over-powering. ❌️

If anyone is interested to see what I mean , Google : 📲 Traditional Indonesian Batik Floral Designs 📲 Then you will see what I mean by the similarities to Stephanie's Paris auction curtains. The use of the Wooden Block is the authentic traditional Indonesian technique of Batik-making that is more than a thousand years old !

The curtains are bold and beautiful!!... almost like an Indonesian Batik, I told myself... and then Stephanie showed the process of intricately carved and inked wooden blocks or stamps and it reminded me exactly of the batik craft shops that used the "Lost Wax Process" that most of the traditional fabrics in Java are made of. My mother bought batik stamps with Mynah birds and Cockatoos I think (that we still hang on the wall), as well as some floral stamps made of metal... perhaps even copper from the color of the metal. Those curtains are WORKS OF ART!! I think they would be lovely next to the mahogany doors. Team Philip! P.S. Unless a designer (boho designer) really knows what they're doing... I don't think complex patterns can be easily mixed and matched. The curtains are a show just on their own. So a room with simple solid-color painted walls and uncomplicated paneling like the future library is a good choice.
@lorassorkin11 ай бұрын
I already voiced my opinion on the Instagram post, but now that I see the full video, my opinion is...the same! I'd love to see them in Stephanie's boudoir once it's widened. Team Philip here - that riot of colour against the sombre richness of the mahogany - OOHH LA LA gorgeous! (I giggled at Nati's reaction - so politely honest!). However I reserve judgement until you show us the actual colour chosen for the panelling of the Grand Salon. I LOVE the idea of a winter look AND a summer look, but that library combo - toooo delicious not to put up there. Oddly enough, I thought these colourful curtains would be the Summer Version for the Grand Salon. As Nati wisely said, l have every faith that you will create something stunning with the astonishing decorating magic BOTH of you share. Have I mentioned lately that you two are so perfectly suited to one another. Cheers my jaded heart no end. ** So lovely to see the chapel coming back to life! Saying prayers that the building engineer coming back with the calculations for the steels in the Grand Salon doesn't hold you up one second longer than necessary. I can sense Amaury's growing frustration - and I think many of us share it! I am kind of shocked that it has been a YEAR! Unreal. Hope your architect lights a fire under the slowpoke engineer and you are all green lights as soon as possible.

Definitely team Stephanie, that new fabric creates a softer, romantic feeling , that is welcoming for the grand salon, for family and guests to mingle and for stimulating conversations. The library should remain darker, richer, deeper colours for snuggling up with a glass of brandy, preferably a Hungarian Tokayi, and a warm fire and a great book on historical 18th century interior design . Cant wait to see them both finished, not sure if either will be done when I come to stay early October, but it doesnt matter, I am happy just to come see the progress after having put my two bits in!

I’m Team Amaury. You will find a place for the curtains but I’m not sure where. My goodness they are so beautiful the curtains and such a fabulous buy. Well bought. The restorers have such a great talent I mean you wouldn’t have hired them otherwise but I have to acknowledge them. The vault will be beautiful. Thank you. May you please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩

Team Stephanie. They did indeed look beautiful with the mahogany, but when they were held up in the light in front of the Grand Salon paneling at 9;35 in the vid, the pattern just came to life and looked marvelous with the paneling. But they'll look gorgeous wherever they wind up.

Team Stephanie - I love the current green walls and existing curtains in the (eventual) library. I also love the pale green of the paneling that's going up in the grand salon and think the new curtains look great next to it.

I enjoy your fun conversation back and forth concerning the absolutely, gorgeous "new" curtains! The curtains look best near the mahogany panel, according to my two cents worth. They look washed out against the lighter panels for the new grand salon. Best of luck!

Team Stephanie! I love them in the larger room, and I don't want to replace those gorgeous curtains in the future library -- they are lovely with the walls.
