This was wonderful! It’s so amazing to see a city that most of us, unfortunately won’t get to see in our lifetime. But to see it through your eyes is amazing. It isn’t a travel channel or a history channel or an art channel. It’s through the eyes of someone who loves the adventure of a new place, who wants to share their adventures and their new knowledge. This has been such a pleasure, and a privilege to see this beautiful city through your eyes. Thank you. ❤

Re Saint Charles Borromeo: Many people actually have heard of him, they just don't realize it. Most people call it "Mission Carmel" near Monterrey, CA. But, it is actually Mission San Carlos Borromeo del Rio Carmelo, but it is indeed the same 16th century bishop of Milan being honored [who went by "Carlo" because he was "Italian", Carlos being the Spanish and Charles being the German/English versions]. This was the favorite mission of Fra. Junipero Serra, the founder of the CA missions [for Spain], and he died at Carmel, they still have his bed!

Yes. if one isn't raised Catholic (or even Episcopal/Anglican) they often don't realize that Catholic churches are named after the most popular saints all over the world. p.s I think 'Karl' is the more common (or at least older) German form for 'Charles'. It's my husband's name (Charles not Karl that is, because after WW I & WW II German names became less popular~ although Germans were once the most common ethnic group in the mid-west U.S.)... it means "Free Man", and his last name means "Bird Man" (Vogler) in Swiss... or German. ~Tara (kindlydude's wife)

Vienna is one of my favourite cities of the world; we celebrated New Year’s Eve there in front of the spectacular City Hall where the Viennese Ball was in full swing. The streets were hung with enormous twinkling lit chandeliers and everyone was in a festive mood. The Christmas Market and skating was happening in the city square among the trees below and hot Glüwein was flowing freely. Just before midnight, the ballroom guests came out on the upper floor of the city hall in their poufy dresses and ballroom finery to watch the fireworks and the orchestra outside struck up the Viennese Walz which we all started dancing to with strangers young and old. It was magnificent! Stephanie’s tour brought back so many great memories! ❤️
