You've inspired me to basically go completely back to paper as a starting point. The potential of digital is crazy, but nothing beats getting your first ideas down on paper.

Texture, sounds, feeling... There's so many pros to just paper and pencil. And this method has no pressure.

Honestly I draw/paint on an iPad mainly now after all my life doing everything on paper/canvas. Paperlike screen protector makes all the difference. I draw exactly the same on an iPad as I do on paper and have been using Procreate the past almost 9 years. 😂

I always tell people if they don't have a messy sketch... they'r not doing art. A messy sketch is what creates some amazing oppertunities.

Love this combination. There’s a comic strip illustrator I’ve seen along the way who also renders with pencil over his inks and gets some wonderfully subtle forms. Really inspiring even for those of us who are not so concept or iteratively driven. My favourite session so far. Thanks for sharing mate

I've been an artist for 10+ years, studying graphic design atm. I tried your art process, and it is my best work so far. Going through a crisis right now, questioning my choice of medium, themes, etc. I hope I'll figure it out. You're a massive inspiration. Thank you, man

Yes, my son and I are learning soo much and we have a blast watching you and drawing along. Thank you so much. My son has filled multiple sketchbooks with thumbnails and I've seen his tremendous progress in a short time. He has started drawing on his own since finding your channel.

Your thumb nail sketching process has opened my eyes a lot. Out of everyone on here you speak to me the most. I don’t know if you wanted to do a little bio-organic thumbnail video for me but it would mean the world to me for sure at this point in my life.

I love this idea of plant creatures that come from the subconscious . I am 70 and an abstract artist of watercolors and some overlaid zentangles. I really do not like to draw, but want to discipline myself to be some what able to put some conceptual ideas down. I usually get bored or frustrated with drawing. But this looks like so much fun, that I think it could get me use to just drawing! New sub here. Thanks!

This business of using a ball point is sooo foreign to me. Growing up, ball points were forbidden fruit for artwork. Only pencils were allowed. So, I'm getting used to them. It's a new challenge and interesting effects are occurring. Love it! Love Sketch #4, the pine cone idea is intriguing.

This was really inspiring to watch. Could you do a video on how you would use this technique on a more developed drawing? Loving the all the videos man
@stanimirgeorgiev.872 ай бұрын
For work tactics combining pencil with ink. I actually do exactly combined techniques. Almost never clean. But since I'm self-taught, I didn't know the name of "mixed" technique. I learned the name of mixed media from my girlfriend and she told me that this media is called "gouache". So for a pencil/mascara combination, I've been doing this combination since 8th grade which was 18 years ago. But over the years I have developed and also modified this technique. My current strategy for a pencil/ink combination requires me to first lay down a pencil sketch, but then I don't erase it to lay down ink. I seal a pencil with hairspray. Otherwise, a pencil left loose, when it rubs against other notebook pages, it smudges over time. It's always pissed me off-the pencil rubbing and pencil squishing. For this, I seal the pencil with hairspray. After a sheet of paper dries, I start the next stage of work, which is development with blue pen and after this start with acrylic paints (maybe other types of paints. Whoever feels comfortable). So yes, it's a fun workflow that I really enjoy.

I love the videos really nice to follow a long a draw something while listening but I can’t stop and think that just “thumbnail drawing” is not very precise there could be like a creative / guideline that you could tell the viewers from where you should take inspiration

Your story for that second thumbnail plant(an)imal totally sparked an idea for a short story in my brain. You talking about plants jumping on a space where they want to grow.... OMG never EVER fall asleep outside. Think of the pain that would wake you up when it's roots doug into your arm. And then the trouble of getting it removed ... If at all possible...

You: "I'm obsessed with insects. But when I was a kid I was obsessed with dinosaurs more than anything." At that very moment I hit pause on a clip and said to me: "Well, when I was little I was obsessed with dinosaurs. But after dinosaurs I was obsessed with insects. But after insects I saw Alien and I became obsessed with insect monsters ."
