@FlippyMcGiantDad5 ай бұрын
Ehh it's not that bad. Most stats cap at 80, so a specialized build will hit harder and have more HP (generally Vigor is good up to 60). Almost all spells and weapons will only take some of those stats in to account, it's not like Comet Azur will be affected by FAI. He'll have pretty good damage output, but not great damage output, and good ability to take hits, but not "tank everything while laughing" ability to take hits. One of the weapons that could take advantage of all damage stats at that level is still locked behind beating one of the bosses giving people a lot of trouble.
@fillosof666895 ай бұрын
@@FlippyMcGiantDadwith the way Pat described it, no build will be able to MMO tank the hits of major mobs in the DLC, let alone bosses. Or does the special % scaling you pick up affect HP and/or resistances?
@FlippyMcGiantDad5 ай бұрын
@@fillosof66689 I believe the fragments affect damage taken and received, so getting more would make you tankier. However, it's more important to stack buffs for the multiplicative effects too. Black Flame Protection and Golden Vow stack for a fairly good physical defense buff. Stack that with some method of gaining superarmor and you can slug it out with some bosses. On the buff front that's "only" 30 FAI needed. Wondrous Physick flask gets you Opaline Hardtear for more damage reduction, and Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman further adds on. Best to have some sort of passive regen, either from an incant or maybe regen gear to make up for the face tank damage. That greatsword you get from Limgrave with Oath of Vengeance will give superarmor, so in theory with all those active you can trade blows while taking less damage and not get staggered for a bit, try to force a break and then crit/reapply Oath. All those along with the effects of the Scadu frags will work together and make you real resistant.

Your level really doesn't make a big difference, I've done the first few areas with all stats at 40 and at RL1. Having defensive talismans and some Scadu blessings make a way bigger difference. Also, if you are using Tiche, Maliketh's Blade or a Black Knife, something is screwy with the interaction between the boss health scaling and the max health reduction from those effects: it seems like the effect might actually restore more health than they lost when it wears off? i'm only 6-10 hours into the dlc but so far i do see what Pat is saying that it seems like the game wants you to utilize all of your tools and not just rely on the old fashioned roll/block and hit approach. However i do think it's valid to criticize the dlc for being designed that way if you don't like playing the game said way (if it's genuinely true across the board and not just an early impression or for a few hand selected fights). Because if the dlc is designed and more importantly balanced around expecting you to use spirit summons and or npc summons/new crystal tears etc that means the "usual" souls experience of "just" blocking and or dodging and getting some hits in when there's a window becomes the self imposed hard-mode version of the fight rather than the baseline or default version, that many players are probably more used to. This isn't to say that's it's unfairly balanced or badly designed, but more so that being "forced" (unless you're one of the soulsborne god gamers who do speedruns or challenge runs or you're like Let Me Solo Her etc) to play with all these tools might not feel as fun or satisfying to some people. But since i've yet to complete the DLC myself i'm not going to say for sure that this is actually how it's like or is designed. I'm simply stating that if this IS the case, then there's valid criticism to be had.

Its like MHW and its expansion, iceborne. Vanilla was hard but you can easily beat most monsters with low to non augment high rank weapons. In iceborne, you have to use the clutch claw, use elementals right, know enemy movement, etc.
@stefanbraidwood20075 ай бұрын
I was talking to a friend who is also doing it atm and we agreed that it feels as though Miyazaki very deliberately gives you a tool for every problem the DLC presents you with, but those tools aren't exclusively good, they're specific. That's one of the ways the DLC is harder than the base game, where for example bleed dex builds just erased virtually everything. There are new summons who are ideal for some bosses and crap at others, and the NPC summons are ACTUALLY GOOD at their fights now. The DLC is harder, fighting solo is more demanding because the fights are faster and you get less room for error. Oh, also I have noticed weapon/elemental damage seems to matter a lot more now, if you actually want to hurt the bosses. But I never got the feeling you couldn't beat the fights without npcs, it's more that shadowtree levels are really really important to help even the scales between you and the big bois. Haven't made it to the end yet so maybe that will change. Have fun!

Find it hilarious how gate-keepy this series can be amongst certain fans and how certain builds and tactics are seen as “cheating”, even if it’s just using basic mechanics. Everyone and their momma is consulting guides to make the most optimal build and get the best weapons for said build as quickly as possible. I feel like Elden Ring was especially built to make you adopt the mindset of “A win is a win.” because these bosses are pulling out the most fucked up whacko shit imaginable to clap your ass lol You bet your sweet tarnished ass I’m gonna use Comet Azure to melt Mohg before he has the opportunity to even get close enough to attempt to touch me. On the replay I did it the way I usually do and it was more fun

Nobody is calling it cheating to use a cheese build. It is unbalanced for sure, though. I find it funny that you mention a strategy that was _specifically_ nerfed in this patch, though 😂. After getting a lot of the early exploration done in the DLC I can understand the complaints about the difficulty but it's specifically the stat bloat that happens. It makes the game extremely punishing for small mistakes until you get enough blessings. You also just don't do that much damage and since you're already max upgrade it makes blessings the only way to damage boost to a fair level. It's stats are just over bloated in the weirdest way.

Size of Limgrave maybe in the content but with their magical powers of copy paste they were able to like double that size. Even still took me 35 hours (without all the travel probably more around 25-30 hours) to do all the bosses, every area, and finished all the quests. Probably like 95% complete. $20-25 should have been the price. Since for the new content it pretty much equals their older DLCs. You’re paying extra for landmass filled with things you already did in the base game and even has repeats of things in the DLC.

"Just cheat!" See... Thats fine and good for players. But for streamers its boring. I don't care if someone just spams rot and shit in their own game. But when I'm watching someone play the game for my entertainment...watching them steamroll with no effort and barely see boss moves....what's the point? I'm watching a streamer to see their reactions. By cheating and steamrolling I don't get those reactions so there's no reason to watch. Which is why I never rewatch the DS3 LP because pat leveled to like SL 100 and full black knight armor in the fucking third level of the game. Which is totally fine if he's just playing at home...but its straight up boring as shit to watch.

Okay, I just want to make absolutely sure. Is the Land of Reeds "just Sekiro" in the sense that a land exactly like Sekiro is in the Rlden ring world? But isn't actually "that" Sekiro? Or is is that Sekiro takes place in the same setting as Elden ring? Because that would make a lot of sense considering that going forward there will be an Elden ring 2 with the stated intent to make it an expansive universe. Its just that Miyazaki won't be working in that.
