I have this dream of getting a rebuilt 12v VR6 getting a rebuild. Rotrex S/C, 3.0 displacement, 288 camps, P&P BVH, plus 2.9tb, all the other supporting mods and seeing what happens. As right now I can't really afford it but it's on my bucket list.

The amount of money for any s/c setup vs power is ridiculously expensive compared to a totally stock 2.8 with a turbo. Totally stock untouched engines can make 500hp safely and reliably with a turbo

My stock vr6 with microsquirt and short runner intake manifold stock cams, has power up to 6800 and keeps them up to 7500 now i will test with tt276 cams

Looked like a good day on the dyno... got what you needed done and didn't hurt anything! Win, win!

Definitely, from there i got it more dialed in on the street and at the races. Happy i was able to build/tune it all myself. Little nerve racking but it survived lol

Didn’t it make 193/170 on the chip tune? Does it feel better on megasquirt?

Different days/weather Much better on micro for racing situations, and adjustments of any mods you throw at it. Also of course 2 stepping at every redlight lol

@@SmithsEuro yeah fair enough brother. Love your videos man I’ve been binging your whole channel lol I’m going back and forth between an “all out” NA vr build or use this 60-1 I have laying around and go with a simple vrt setup. Obviously the power is in boost but a rowdy choppy vr is so much fun. Cheers

Which cams do you think are best on a stock head? 276? 288?
@SmithsEuro6 ай бұрын
Really matters what intake and if any power adder 288 use more air so ported head would take advantage

arp rod bolts needed in a n/a build?
@SmithsEuro2 жыл бұрын
If you plan to live on the limiter I certainly would. I built this motor about 7 years ago. Did rod bolts and new rod bearings. Not a day it doesn’t see limiter when driven

With ms109 I run 13.3/13.4 AFR my opinion ditch those 288s look into Piper Cams or Cat! Much better choice!

Im tapped out on spending for the 12v I am going with cat cams for the 3.6 when I finish saving up. Cant wait for those things lol

@@SmithsEuro try short runner it will get you some gains!!!
@donaldshidal8512 жыл бұрын
need head work to get power upstairs
@SmithsEuro2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, only has the casting removed in the head. No port work. I think a good port job, and short runner would move it up along with maybe 10-15hp gains.

@@SmithsEuro vr6 12v heads are an uphill battle from what I understand, not the greatest for flow. With that being said,I prefer an uphill battle build let's see what can be wrung out of it.
@SmithsEuro Жыл бұрын
Agreed, anthony is pushing the 12v pretty far. I decided i wanted to start with the biggest displacement i could with the 3.6, and i have loads of ideas for the headwork on that, ill be starting on that soon.
