Mk1 Fiesta project (EP14) Modified tie bar & rolling again!

Welcome back all,
In this weeks video me and dad are back out in the garage working on his Mk1 fiesta, which we have put a ST170 engine in! The episode starts with the unboxing of Shane bakers tie bar/support bar modification. We needed this because the original n/s tie bar does not clear the 5 speed xr2 gearbox. Our modified pieces were fitted & look the part! Later in the episode I show loads of new parts that dad has brought & just run through some of the next jobs we need to tick off the list. We are going to try our best to get the Mk1 ready for summer...!

Looking good mate, I think your dad should put pepper pots on the mk1 or mini lights. But what ever he puts on there it will still look amazing because it a mk1 fiesta. 👍

nice to see progress on this! I wouldn't worry to much about them brakes, I ran the standard 1300 solid disk setup on mine just with some updated disks and pads and it was fine. you need to be sensible about it but they work just fine of your not giving it the beans constantly

Hi Mitch, that tie bar is no lower than the broad red bar in the middle of the underside of the front panel, in fact it looks even higher. The wee MK1 is looking really good in the sunshine ☀️. Keep er lit 🔥

Word of advice I would make or get the same setup for the other side so that you have matching tie bars. Would benefit from a matching support brace too.

Thank you for the advice but the only reason for the new tie bar was to clear the 5 speed box & add the strength that we took out of the chassis when we cut out that section. The other side is completely solid and we are happy to use the original tie bar 👌🏻

@@Mk2Mitch but you now have two different size, different angle tie bars. This will also at stiffness and strength to the other side. Wish i could add pics of mine here. Its worth doing especially if you haven't stirch welded the whole bay.

Hey that’s a great bit of progress..you fellas must be pleased with that..mk2 callipers are almost the same just the rattle clips that are different from mk1 mk2 xr2 have wire clip and mk1 xr2 had a folded metal clip that fits in a bigger hole ..there absaloutly fine for the job…a cheap up grade for rear is fit xr2 cyinders that have a bigger bore …….who gets the haribo you or your old fella..🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍🥶🤣🔩

Forgot to say, you should paint the tie bar red , then it won’t be as noticeable as it is in black, cause it’s just contrasting with the red.
