Something that you may want to invest is is some reverse drill bits so when you are drilling the drill bit spins anti clockwise and the benefit of that is it may also free of the broken stud while drilling

Nice video mate. I'd say the KA is worth a bit more probs 1400 to 1500 quid. Good skills there. Invest in some cutting paste for tap and dying, a tub will last years. Also next time try a pilot hole and some screw extractors (you mentioned them). It's just another way of extracting studs, your way was as good as any because it worked
@Mk2Mitch10 күн бұрын
Thank you mate, maybe I’ll put the Ka up for slightly more when I come to sell in a few months 👍🏻 I’ll have to add that cutting paste to my Christmas list 😆 I’ll also invest in some stud extraction tools!

Good video, nice that it was all in from start to end result. Just a note, why didn't you put exhaust manifold back on whilst you had the front end off for easier access?
@Mk2Mitch10 күн бұрын
Thank you! I hadn’t received the sensor at that point in the video & I wanted to get the bumper on to save time the following day 👍🏻 Obviously in a ideal world I’d re-fit the manifold with the bumper off. Saying this, it’s not impossible to remove and refit the manifold with the bumper on.

@Mk2Mitch10 күн бұрын
Yes I spotted this water pipe was a little crusty too! Similar to the way the pipe is routed on a Mk2 fiesta. I bought the car and thought I might as well record the work! Doesn’t matter if people like or dislike it but may give me a insight into if people want to see more ‘quick fixes’ 👍🏻

Ford exhaust manifold studs are obviously junk worldwide, i have done many back in my career on the 4.6, 5.4 and 6.8 V8 units in pickups. Welding a nut to broken stud also works but not suitable for home repair. Snapon makes a left hand tap set specially for these jobs
@Mk2Mitch10 күн бұрын

Easy fix, and drilling studs out is a skill test certainly, well done on that, the only bit of the video where it owes you money is a slightly confusing, that you bought a new tap and die set, and added it onto what the car owes you, no doubt you will be using the tap and die set again and again on other cars maybe, so its not gonna owe you on other cars you ues it on. I do apologise for speaking out of term, but thats the only part of the video I don't agree with. 😊
@Mk2Mitch10 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I did explain that the tap and die set was bought for this job but will be used again. If I put it into the total billing of this job, then it’s paid for and technically ‘free’ for all future jobs 😁
